Vote no for question A.. oh wait that's already over.

Are there any Divine that consistently give out favours based on offerings?
I got the impression that this was pretty normal back in the day, but less so now.

Kalikai used to. No idea about now.

I can't speak for other gods, but I consistently refund 33% of all offerings into blessings. I don't do it often, and sometimes I mess up (because unlike some other gods, most of my essence comes from loads of people all offering a tiny little bit, so if I go down my list every week 50% of the people wouldn't even qualify for a regular favour) but on the whole, that's what it comes down to.
I used to refund 50%, but then cults came along and I actually needed to start saving essence just in case.

Lord Morgfyre granted me two or three blessings for roughly 1.8mil essence.

Ahhh, now that makes more sense. The last few truefavours I received had me feeling like they were akin to big brown envelopes, tempting me to join your order.

I didn't know there was a cost associated with giving a favor. Now I feel like I should make better use of them.
Gleip2010-11-14 14:04:40
Of course there is a cost. Otherwise, they would be able to freely give out favours all the time.

All things gods do/have/own are paid for in one way or another. Hence godrealm difference. So, stop giving your god a hard time for not having a temple, they're horribly expensive!
Unknown2010-11-14 14:18:28
Don't I recall the whole godrealm event being caused due to gods having recieved such a massive amount of essence that they could truefavour the entire game for 2 months solid?
Furien2010-11-14 14:22:11
Yeah.
Essence flu/food poisoning spawning aggro Eventru mobs that throw Nejii's to Frosticia in fits of rage.
Also my god can take his sweet time with temples and godrealms. While I'll probably be running to it all the time to fend off obnoxious raids, the already-provided standard makes me figure the whole place will be scenery porn incarnate. What beats synthesized PK and text-visuals? I guess I could emote while I PK to hit all the bases ... nah.

Essence isn't the only currency. And not everyone has essence coming out of the demon hole. Taking myself as an example, even though I have been in haven for a -very- long time (disgracefully so), there are only three gods who have less essence than I do, and all of them started their admin carreer in the last year. Such is the drawback of being a knowledge-type god. But then, it's what I enjoy playing and I wouldn't trade it for the world (or a bigger godrealm).
Gleip2010-11-14 14:26:23
At least you're not Isune. I feel really sorry for her order.

what happens if a god has next to no essence? Is there a competition between gods on who has the most? Does the winner get a beer and a pat on the back?
Vadi2010-11-14 15:32:29
Elosian is awesome. Thanks for the insight

If a god goes into negative essence, Estarra goes to their location of residence and kills him.

I kinda know how you feel man. But it's a bit switched around for me.

Wonder if my Goddess is one who's got less essence than Elostian? :<
