Oh, also, and I swear this is the last addition...
Researcher combat is different from any class I've played anywhere. It is less about "attack attack attack" and more about watching your opponent, seeing what they are open to, what they cure or don't cure quickly, what you can stick on them and then, from that, trying to time and line up a bunch of variables that will work in your favor before closing in at the right moment.

Yeah, most of the guardian/wiccan classes are like that, although they all play differently from each other. Celestines and Nihilists are even more about this than Researchers are.

Yeah, I've heard that, too.
And, you were right earlier about TimeQuake, it is extremely unreliable. Since it is untargeted, if your opponent leaves the room silently and you still Quake, you lose 10 power. If your opponent shields and you don't see it, you lose 10 power. Hell, I've even had it fail to kill people who were at massive timewarp.

IIRC, what I eventually found myself driven to doing was setting up Oracle and TimeEchoes and then timing my shatterplex so that one of those two fired between the shatterplex and the timequake in order to undo whatever timewarp curing they did during that interval. It worked but it was really obnoxious to do.
And yeah, I can't count the number of timequakes that failed anyway because they left the room stealthed, they shielded, their love potion ticked, etc...
Furien2010-11-15 04:21:09
There's something you might envoy.
Rubies working like faeriefire/other illumination skills so you don't have to run into the shroud problems when going for timequake.

Yeah, even this doesn't really work anymore, since Echoes / Oracle give .25 levels of timewarp each and focus mind cures 1 level of timewarp. So, really, you have to get them above a certain level - which is fairly difficult - before you can be relatively certain they will still be at massive when you regain balance.

Quick! Who is that adorable researcher with the name that starts with I, but is not Ileein? She is younger. Hallifax..Go!
Rodngar2010-11-15 05:42:23
The class looks interesting to say the least, and I hope I can experiment with it soon.

Female researchers whose names start with I: Iocassa
Male researchers whose names start with I: Iltempo, Izenn, Iesid
Other young female Hallifaxians whose names start with I: Irillia
EDIT: I've never met those researchers. Irillia is certainly adorable, but she's not a researcher.

Lorina, is your avatar a man's face photoshopped on Taylor Swift's body, or did image compression just so some really strange things there?
Lorina2010-11-15 06:16:57
That is my face :3

On a totally related tweet, having talked to the last person I need to speak to is liberating!
If also nerve-wracking.

I love Irillia.
Also: It's nice when things are no longer in your hands.
Also frustrating. Quite frustrating.

The Face of Boe and I are insulted. He demands an apology. I've had this avatar for like 2 months, and even had a quote about the Face of Boe in my sig. Pectus even mentioned it. He expects the apology to be on his desk monday morning.
I don't know who Boe is But I swear it looks like a LOtR movie troll XD
But I apologize. Who is Boe?
