If you're concerned about losing large numbers of fleshpetals and/or facets, don't leave large numbers in them. Pretty simple!
This.
It's completely your orgs control as to how much you lose. You can lose 1 or you can lose 10,000, all up to you.
Vadi2010-11-17 21:31:45
Keep in mind that those large-scale group attacks have to be at least bigger by 50% now with the severe Demigod downgrades. It wasn't happening before, it surely won't happen anytime soon

The last supermob buff occurred because 8 people killed two supernals at once, and 14 people killed 2 Moon Avatars at once.
It should be an effort of 20+ people, not the late-night ganksquad. It has nothing to do with 'stifling' conflict, but rather encourage large-scale group attacks.

Now that has me thinking on how the Tide Lords can easily be killed by like one person easily, and the fact that it's takes time to get there and very easy to just run.

Call me crazy, but the first time someone takes down a fleshpot or a sphere, I'm going to think it is awesome and demand to know what happens.
EDIT: And yeah, IMO you are exaggerating the loss. It's never happened before, it might not even be that bad to have to go through! We won't know until it happens, and I'd rather know than just sit there are stare at a part of the game that is never going to get used because it's not nice.
Also: Breaking things is fun!

By comparison, Tide Lords are entirely useless. Essence is worth less for an hour. That's about it.
(So basically Hallifax has got it right wrt how they treat the Air Lords)

Lusternia was complicated when it first opened, and it's gone up exponentially year after year, every new thing trying to top the last new thing.
This.

All the Lords/Ladies/Aspects are like that and I wouldn't call it easily done by one person. A demigod warrior with no cold penalty can solo them without to much trouble, but I have taken 2 people with me 90+, as a demigod and watched them hit vitality and myself hit vitae just because of a cold weakness. It all depends on class and buffs/weakeness.
Lord/Ladies/Aspects should be soloable, they just should not be easily soloable.
The Air Lords used to heal themselves on every second hit. The first time I solo raided them I spent 5 minutes as a demigod warrior unable to kill them because every second hit they healed themselves. not to mention the OP damage they did on top of that. An issue fixed that thankfully.

Sometimes RP shouldn't be a deciding factor.
For very good reasons that if we rely on RP to form mechanics, nothing and no one will ever die again, because someone's rp would mean that it must stay alive.

i don't ever remember taking down Supernals or Moon Avatars with only 8 people, we've always had 15+

The 8 only applied to the supernals in his statement. I think I do remember a raid where we barely scraped together 10 people and took down Meth/Japh and got Shakiniel down to shielding before wiping out, which was the last one before the changes were slated for implementation.

I love when people attack the Air Lords, just because I think of the response from an RP sense and it makes me giggle to myself. It's more GET OFF OUR LAWN YOU CRAZY KIDS IF I CATCH YOU DISMANTLING OUR AIR CONDITIONER ONE MORE TIME I'LL CALL THE (TIME) COPS than it is OMG MUST SAVE OUR LORDS! If they die it's kind of like...oh well, those guys are never empowered anyway. No real loss, at least we won't have to deal with the things hassling us for a day or so.
It is more the sort of response to someone kicking your car than to someone kicking your elderly grandmother.
Furien2010-11-17 21:54:23
That was beautiful.
Rika2010-11-17 22:02:31
I gave up on caring about the Aspects when the Hartstone GM wouldn't even bother to help defend them. They die so easily anyway. By the time we get organised, they're all dead, so why bother?
Lilian2010-11-17 22:11:36
GM response to not defending is that's the (inactive) GC's job to do.
Which, I suppose, they have a point.
So stop caring if your GC wouldn't bother (which Lehki does, when he's around.)

Oh yeah. Good times. It did needed changing, but I still think you went the complete other way now.

Today I learned that mages have a way of delivering triple sleep that is nevertheless completely useless in actual combat.

Come over here for a while... and then say that again... with a straight face.
I really don't think he'd have any problem with that, actually.
I think at least some of the problem sometimes is that people are too accustomed to things being the way they were. When they change, there's a feeling of injury or hurt as if the other guy is "out to get you personally" when it's really not the case. If you're inclined to viewing things this way, it's very very easy to label everyone on the "other team" as a jerk; because they're clearly doing what they do to spite you.
I will note that there are definite things that do qualify as jerkishness; sending random insulting tells out of the blue, repeatedly, to multiple people. Attacking and killing novices to get 'payback' (or most especially for the 'lulz'). Repeated and consistent raiding designed to grind and wear down the opposing force. Blocking quests for 24-48+ hours straight.
There are very few people who play this game who live for these sorts of things. Many of the most egregious offenders have stopped playing, which I feel is a benefit for Lusternia as a whole.

I have always wished that there was a nice RP game where combat was relaxed enough that you could get some character interaction going during it.
I used to play one like this, but unfortunately it succumbed to the problem of having so small a player base that it was inevitable that an idiot would end up running it. Until then, though, it was pretty incredible.
Nothing stops you from doing it in Lusternia... except the fact that no one will notice or have time to respond, so it's pointless. But go ahead anyway.
For me, what's discouraging about raids is just one thing: if you win, they come back with more people until you lose. If you win three times there will be four raids. Now that I've said that, I must fairly note that there've been several raids of Etherwilde in the last few weeks where that didn't happen. I'm not sure if today is one of them: there was a few hours in between the victories and the "we're back with so many demigods you simply can't win" followup so one could certainly assume they were separate raids, and anyone who assumes otherwise is just twitchy from being repeatedly abused. But that's because, hey, we've been repeatedly abused.
