From when I started playing, someone once said to me buying all the commodities from an enemies village is better for us than them, we can do more with commodities than we can with gold.
It also used to have the chance to reduce tithes, when stock levels were at or near the old 250 ceiling; but not anymore.

I heard from some people that after the most recent commodities change, the amount in stock started affecting tithes again. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

As for my own tweet, I'm so glad we went through the whole thing where I got contested and told nobody had wanted me around and had been begging people to contest me. So glad it was by someone who didn't have a clue, and ended up getting replaced rather quickly.
Yes, I'm a bit bitter, but the circumstances were not nice in the least to me.

More like "by someone who never logged on after winning". So they traded someone in a different time zone for someone who contested, won, and vanished entirely.

Both amount in stock and production do, so when people buy out comms, it might increase or decrease tithing -- the higher demand causes more production, but the lower stock levels could reduce tithes, which should approximately cancel out over the long run.

Not sure that's any better, considering I was supposedly contested for "never being around" when.. I was. Maybe I wasn't around as much as I used to be, but that wasn't particularly healthy or productive for me.
Edit: Oh well, such is life, I just don't see the need to sign on as much anymore except to do a few things which I still enjoy.

There still seems to be some effect, but no where near as significant as it once was. This is due more to the cost scaling up significantly on most commodities as they are purchased than anything else. On the other hand, most people are lazy and will not voraciously build up comms again if they are dropping - if neither Talan nor I are around, or if we're distracted with other projects, it will fall by the wayside. Villages never really produce more comms than they can replace with tithes, so it is a continual cycle of decay unless some player effort is invested. The exception to this might be metals and wood, which seem to do reasonably no matter what - but I'm not sure if that's because no one is ever able to try and buy them out or not.

The impression I was given was that it was so terrible and was ruining every economy ever if we dared buy a lot of commodities from villages.
Which, if you can't tell by my italics, I never really bought into entirely. I figured it had to have some impact or else no one would really care, but never thought it warranted reactions that basically amount to forbidding people from entering.

Celest used to get a few people who would make alts to do that. Looks like the crazies relocated.

I seem to remember some Mag being caught out by Veonira doing something wrong, and then in response, saying "Hold on, let me explain", then copy pasting the lyrics to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air OP onto CT and then suiciding.
Weirdoes.
Weirdoes.

Just noticed the Planes section on the website hasn't been updated since Gaudiguch and Hallifax were released.

I was getting annoyed trying to work out what skills to pick for beasts, so I started writing a points calculator webpage last night, fun times.
Oh also Nariah. We had the awesome idea while astral bashing for Lehki to come bleed all over everything with Stag Sacrifice next time you guys do that Bloodfaire thing.
