Hey, it totally is! It might look big but you didn't even try. Who knows, maybe like world debt, it'll even get bumped down once you start on it with good schedule and pace.
Given that I'm homeless, I have little access to the internet, then a wicked time constraint when I am.. half hour here, half hour there. I don't have the time to bring in a whole lot of power in a timely manner, especially since when most of the time I -do- get on, you're not on for me to give the power to... especially not that much power.
And considering the only way I can possibly think of to bring power to Glom while I'm still enemied is essence, and being a rogue dracnari bard means bashing blows out the arse, yes, it intimidated me, so I didn't try.

Just how much is your fee? (And who's your character). Maybe Tully needs to pull a Balizar Save...

I suppose I understand the appeal of aetherbashing in terms of experience, but does anyone else find it dreadfully boring?
I must admit, I feel much the same about bashing in general, but at least I can have a bit more fun on Prime exploring the areas and looking at the pretty (or not) monsters I'm killing. Plus I'm on Prime so I can talk to people and feel like I'm not disassociated from most of the game. I dunno, I guess I just don't get the competitive aspect of it.
This isn't meant as a criticism of anyone who enjoys to aetherbash, obviously you can do what you like. Just my mind wandering!

Yes, I find it boring, but no more boring than solo hunting on prime (or anywhere else really). At least on a ship, people generally talk on the ship channel. At least its boring for less time than hunting other places and I still have people to talk to, since the ship has a crew.

It is boring, but the experience is absolutely incredible. If there was a way to compete with its gains that was on Prime or even on Elemental or Cosmic, I'd do it - but aetherbashing is the quickest way to Demigod IMO.

That's my understanding of it as well. I was just wondering if there was an additional source of the appeal beyond the faster route to Demigod.

No, you're definitely not the only one. Aetherbashing is way more grating and unengaging than regular bashing.
I find the only way I have focus is if I'm trying to slivven for the entire ship as well as siphon, then I have to pay attention and judge when I should get up and unlock.
There also is absolutely no competitive aspect, unless there is an exp contest going on, since nothing else will compare to the gains.

I do it for the xps.

I enjoy aetherhunting because I'm a socialist in real life, and Hallifax aetherhunts bring in power and money for the city, plus helping multiple people gain experience.
Shamarah2010-11-23 19:14:55
There's also the fact that you can automate most (all) of it.

That too, but you still need to remain present at the keyboard or else that is so very against the rules!
Lendren2010-11-23 19:22:25
It used to be less boring because you had a bunch of people working together, and there was typically chat going on at the same time. When I do it nowadays, though, it's too spammy for chat, too automated, etc.
Unknown2010-11-23 19:24:22
I don't go on every aetherhunt out there. I really just stick to the ones Daraius runs, despite their not being the most efficient or lengthy of hunts. I could get a lot more experience if I went out with any crew, but it's just depressingly boring without good company, and our Hallifax crews tend to be, at the very least, good for conversation. Plus they are enforced IC (which should always be the case, but I have heard horror stories) and if anyone goes afk they get removed from their module.
And yes. Delicious xp.

Still doesn't stop people. Honestly, I think Aetherships were the worst addition to the game, followed by monks. At least monks had an interesting concept, aetherships are just boring in every way. And instead of making them not boring, so people would actually use them, they were made so XP-rich that powergamers are inevitably drawn to them, justifying their continued existence.

It should be but I think IC shipt is the exception, not the rule.

I gag the siphon calls, targeting calls, people firing, clarity lines and aetherbeasts being summoned lines. So, yeah, basically gag everything except chat and slivven announcements.
