I suppose I understand the appeal of aetherbashing in terms of experience, but does anyone else find it dreadfully boring?
I'm not trying to take the moral high ground or anything, but I do really enjoy it not just for the expees. I've said elsewhere that I can't really handle any more than a one- or two-hour aetherhunt, so that probably is why I haven't come to loathe it. When everything goes smoothly and you settle into a rhythm, there's a chance for (usually) interesting chatter on SHIPT (which, yes, is IC on my flights). When things don't go smoothly, it's usually because of mass slivven infestations or unexpected swarms of monsters, which can be fun to deal with too.
Also, I don't really feel as comfortable leading a normal hunting trip. I don't really like asking people to come with me, or imposing myself on another hunting group. I like pretending to be Jean-Luc Picard or something.

I enjoy aetherhunting because I'm a socialist in real life, and Hallifax aetherhunts bring in power and money for the city, plus helping multiple people gain experience.
Also this. Don't forget about essence for Big E!

Honestly, I think Aetherships were the worst addition to the game, followed by monks.

-patpat- Don't worry Daraius, you're my favourite aethership-piloting monk there is.

It doesn't help that half the people on board are alts.

Sadly, aetherways essence is a rediculously small yield compared to other incomes. It has to do with the fact that items as they exist now can only hold 100% (esteem), which isn't intentional, but it means that aethership essence is full after only a couple of kills. It makes for a very sad Elo when I think about all that delicious essence that just never gets created (especially now that cults exist, which cost such a ridiculous amount of essence that I will probably be saving for IC decades in order to be able to afford more than one!).

We tried changing it through envoys but it didn't get approved!
Plz to enable us to just imbue something with all that essence. It gets waaasted.

Veto to anything that makes aetherhunting even more appealing.

Unless it changes what is fundamentally flawed with aetherhunting. That is to say, most of it.

This could be fixed though, for example modifying the font artifact for aetherships.

The alternative solution would be to reduce all experience gains to be about one tenth of what it is now so that it will take 20 creatures to fill the aethership essence.
Lendren2010-11-23 21:51:16
I would love to see a cult skill that lets you offer from wherever you are if you're in a cult... because cults need things to make them useful to have around.
I can do that, but unless everyone else does, it still crushes conversation. And you know it'll never be the case that everyone else will. (Well, at least not for the set of cats amongst which I am being herded.)

I gag the siphon calls, targeting calls, people firing, clarity lines and aetherbeasts being summoned lines. So, yeah, basically gag everything except chat and slivven announcements.

For one glorious evening I had topped her. I stood proud, elated - glancing down the list of other offerings inflated by a sense of accomplishment. And today... this.

Couple of times a month I think. Maybe just once a month.
Ragniliff really offers quite a lot.

Nah, you can see with the affinity numbers it's been 46 days.

To be fair, Talan offered more, she just has more shrine power loss.

I didn't even have shrine powers to use it on until recently, apart from shrinesense, so there's no way I could have been spending it!
But yeah, Viravain doesn't reset often. It really builds up after a while!

I am having WAY too much fun being Seneschal of the Templars and beating up novices and ordering them to do push ups. It may be rough on the youngsters, but I find it way better than the alternative that's been provided thus far which was essentially nothing. It's also great for spring boarding more ideas on how to make the whelp period and Templar experience more engaging.
