Emanating from the aether, a sonorous multi-toned voice says, "I see, well, never let it be said
that we're full of preconceptions in My order."

Emanating from the aether, a sonorous multi-toned voice says, "Irrespective of the truth I don't
want things like that said."

I wish Tulemrah's RP would let her take Elostian seriously. It sounds like you guys have a lot of fun.

I hear that. biggrin.gif The admin probably think I hate them because Daraius is as agnostic as you can get in a world with living gods.

Of all the funny conversations that occurred last night, why was this the only thing quoted?

I'm still going to have to destroy Veyrzhul.

Hahaha! I remember doing something similar in another MUD that I used to play. There was a God there named Ashalon and the letters SA could be substituted for the SAY command. Well, I meant to tell someone 'Sod off, you pompous windbag' and this happens:

You tell Ashalon, God of Darkness, "Sod off, you pompous windbag!"

Yeeeeah, I can't remember getting zapped so much in my life. Luckily yours was tame. tongue.gif

(Hallifax): Daraius (from the Prime Material Plane) says, "Generous prizes are stake, and only eight months remain to submit entries. You may review Hallifax post 457 in the Ministry of Information's archives, or contact Trademistress Irillia Shevat for details."

(Hallifax): Daraius (from the Prime Material Plane) says, "Rather, the generous prizes are, of course, -at- stake. No steak will be awarded for winning selections."

You tell Minister Daraius Shevat, "You of course would enjoy if there was, I imagine."

Daraius tells you, "Naturally. The hostess may even make an exception in my case, if I were to submit a winning entree."

Daraius tells you, "Pardon, a winning entry."

Mehkir has been crushed to death by a dragon turtle.
You see the death occur at harbour shallows.
From your knowledge, that happened in City of Magnagora.

That's a dedicated dragon turtle. Watch out Mag! None of you are safe!

Nice passive aggressive ForumRP, Neos...

That room is where turtles tend to group up, and I've seen groups of 6 before. Obviously Mag is safe, Mehkir is just a low level. I would wager if you entered the harbor you would die too, if the turtles attacked you. So let's cool it with the ForumRP please.

Really? They group up there? Knew seawolves grouped up there, but not turtles. Hrm...

It's a group-up spot. Not exactly sure what causes them but they seem to happen at the point where a large area tapers off into a small area or some sort of corridor, if anything in the area is moving randomly it'll tend to stay there. I wish someone would explain the maths to me behind that...

Neos isn't passive agressive, just silly tongue.gif

Also, what's this?: From your knowledge, that happened in City of Magnagora.

(My assumption is:)
Same reason NPCs would be a total pain in the ass in old school tile based RPG maps, where'd they get stuck in doorways and such. If they have a random chance to move in any direction, the chance for them to actually move decreases the less exits they have open. They'll random every direction, even if they don't exist, and won't reroll if it's an illegal move. Thus, they just stand still a lot.

You will also notice that mobs tend to drift both north and east.

Good examples of this are:

The Seawolves and Turtles in the Sea of Despair- you will generally find few in the western portion, and piles of them pressed right up against, or within, the bay in Magnagora.

The Dolphins in the Inner Sea- you will find the majority of them pushed against the eastern shore, or nearby, at any given time.

The firefly squid in the inner sea- These are a great example, because there are so many of them, and they move so rapidly. While you'll find a smattering of them elsewhere, the best locations for finding them are in the north-eastern parts of the inner sea.

Bone sharks in the Illithoid prison- They like to pile into that little canal area in the northern part of their space, often winding up with a nasty clump of them.

Ur'dead in the catacombs- These are a little more spread out than the above, but I find that if there's a clump, it's often in the north-eastern part.

Generally, you seem to see this more where there are a lot of options for denizens to move in that direction- hence, its more noticeable the more big and open, and less restrictive an area is- the seas, the catacombs with its web like pattern. I can only guess that whatever randomness governs denizen movement, it has a slight favortism towards choosing north and east.
