AquaNeos, I think that a customized cubix.

I know it's customized, but I highlighted the two parts that just didn't seem to mesh in my mind.

Isn't a Cubix a Rubik's Cube analog?
Xenthos2011-07-09 23:14:07
Looks more like a customized pyramid puzzle than a cubix, to me.

He's pointing out that 'portrait' and 'colour' seem unrelated. It is possible that an examined description of it would make more sense.

It's a customized pyramid puzzle; he has three of them. I haven't seen his cubix, actually, if he has one.

He puts all the merians on one side, the faelings on the other... and EVERYONE is just so much better off.

The problem with it being enchanted is that the humans keep trying to climb to the other portraits to breed.

QUOTE
You have slain a lank-haired war goat with large curling horns.
Target Gone: Dead
A lank-haired war goat with large curling horns shimmers and fades away from sight.

Narynth tells you, "That damn goat is such a pest."

You tell Narynth Ysav'rai, "I'll say!"

Narynth tells you, "Thank you for putting it out of its misery. I hope yours is faring better."

You tell Narynth Ysav'rai, "Oh dear, I'd never parade about on a goat."

Narynth tells you, "..assuming you're the one with a similarly stupid goat."

Narynth tells you, "Hmm. Well, someone over there does! Pass on my condolences and well-wishes, then."

You tell Narynth Ysav'rai, "Nope, that'd be Turnus!"

Narynth tells you, "Aha."

She's so friggen cute!

Actually if you look at the examined it does make some sense. It's basically like this puzzle:

only instead of colorful circles, the solved pictures show members of the family, and four particular combinations highlight particular members. The standard, uncustomizable using-the-artifact messages are not as appropriate as one would like, just like with most artifacts when one customizes them, but to try to adapt to that, the background of each portrait highlights a different color.

People are skittish about game plagues because the game beats us over the head with this lesson: every time something happens, you're going to hear about it because of someone else happening to spill that something's going on (and probably has been for a while, while all the events-posts-grabbers try to keep it to themselves), and you're going to get screwed if you stick around. It's a natural consequence of having "OMG the world's going to end" as the backdrop of 75% of the game's events: it gets harder and harder to find an RP-sensible reaction to it that is neither trivializing ("yawn, another apocalypse") nor obligating you to bend over for whatever mixed-message-lesson awaits you this time.

I would figure people are skittish because the game plagues are usually pretty horrible things.

This last ice bites thing wasn't THAT bad, but had people chugging through kegs of fire potion like crazy.

Before that, SKIN ROT and coughing up crystals that hits entire rooms with sleep.

I wasn't around for the original Soul Forge event but I hear that was pretty bad too.

Act like you're an old person who lived through the depression.

The phrase "Well, back in MY day" should be liberally peppered through your sentences as well as the phrase "youngins'".

Soul Forge was terrible, people going around to ensure people were infected and it was just nasty.

this is what Arix does. "Back in MY day we had to deal with Kethuru. All the time with that guy. Damn kids these days with their ice devils and their lute music."

I haven't stereotyped it, but I have mused about my age with both people who were active in my day (Ialie), or to the younger types.

That, plus my own 2-year absence from the game makes it interesting to see a real "generation gap", so to speak. It's a fascinating case of the MUD world mimicking the real world.

Sorry... I didn't realize how easily people are spooked over game plagues.

I knew it wasn't a scary plague trying to kill us all! I just wanted to know what it did. Like if it only gave you a temperature, or if it made you break out in spots. And whether it could be spread by deer from Glomdoring. I was trying to RP with you!

And I've been playing since beta, just not on Qistrel. tongue.gif
