If I had to guess, I'd say he was stupidly doing anything he could to distract the Glomdoring raiders on Ethereal by causing a big enough commotion on Prime to bring them down right before the New Moon's continental Terror coven window opened. No one can ever be sure though, that Rathan is one crazy character... (crazy like a FOX! )
