No. 90% of OOC clans work this way. Find your friend in the clan, go "Can I be in "x clan", person inducts you, ta-da. This is the same thinking that makes people think cliques are some sort of actual evil entity killing Lusternia.

I think you underestimate the power and purpose of cliques.
