Actually we started them like, the day before he joined.
I can vouch for this. Interestingly enough, the amount of interested combatants had increased enough that such endeavors were considered at the time of his entry. Rodngar joined in, but he didn't start the fire.
It was always burning since the world's been turning.

To be picky, we raided Fire a few times the handful of days leading up to his joining. Vortex raids started afterwards, but this was completely coincidental; we'd just been building up to it and he joined in at the right time. And I feel the need to make this clear: we're not doing it just to be jerks or to pick on anyone or anything, we're doing it because it's building our citizens' morale, interest in combat, and participation in offensive/defensive situations. And hell, look, more of Gaudiguch is even starting to fight back! A little conflict is doing both of our sides some good, in my opinion.

No we didn't light it, but we tried to fight it.

Rumour has it that in game husband of yours actually started the most recent resurgence of this fire using a cubix as fuel and whining as igniter.

Ah, okay, that makes more sense. Interestingly, I saw the penguin quote in one of these threads, but I thought it was Astral Insanity. I see they were just trying to create an imaginary Tully.
(I was actually getting scared for a second--seeing the "Tully the First" reference, I was afraid I was some long lost king of a hidden village, similar to the La'Saet even last week--and as flattered as I would be, I had to log off as I got stuff to get done, and I didn't want to insult anybody by logging off. Thankfully it was just my imagination).
To think--all I really wanted to do was have a few people join me so we could watch stage productions together (my more or less "Thanksgiving Gift" to the Basin). Nobody showed up...except for...
ETA: I better REALLY read up on events, so now I get the Newt Blasterson reference. So, in retrospect, was I lying or did I really have memory gaps or what...(I dunno when these events occur and I was "gone with the gnomes" if I should engage in improve theater or not, because I don't want to mess up their plots, but still...)

It's not actually an imaginary Tully. They are figurines, made by the Toymaker for his 'wife' (who is herself a figurine and the leader of the figurines). There are a number of figurines of old ex-players up there, most of them loyal to Amana (their 'mother' as per one of the lines in your quote). This one is the exception.

Or to get me to ask those questions or to realize something.
Tell me no more please. I wanna find out in game.

I think you're deceiving yourself a bit there. Noone ever raids thinking 'Hey, I'll be a jerk today because that's just so much fun.' People usually raid to get a nice fight or to accomplish something, minor as it may be or seem to the party raided. However, as soon as the odds cause one side to be stomped, things cease to be fun for that side, and that is the case in the majority of scenarios. So Gaudiguch may have a somewhat different view on your latest attacks. I'm not condeming you raiding, but assuming it's beneficial for both sides, let alone fun, might go a bit far.

Maybe it's because they're just killing the fleshformed creatures which mechanically doesn't really hurt us except for power quests for a while, that's why it's not so bad for now. So, like Veyrzhul says, don't go all stomp on us. Keep it nice and infrequent and not too damaging.
But right now, I think it's great that Hallifax is raiding. So far, we've been so focused on how much some people in the city sucks, now we get to focus it on some people outside of the city for once.

Oh yeah, it's completely nuts. I fully expect mass balestones to get knocked down in effectiveness eventually.
Nah, don't. Look at Geomancers. As long as they're the way they are, you guys are safe.

10p, requires demesne, and removes all demesne effects Pollute is really only marginally comparable to Balestone.
And as I understand it, Boulderblast damage scales down with more targets, and Balestone currently doesn't? Haven't actually examined either myself, but that's what I've heard. <.<
Unknown2010-11-21 20:33:06
Yeah, not scaling to multiple people is an issue, but Geos also have good old rockslide and phantomspheres anyway.
Vadi2010-11-21 21:13:23
You're forgetting one simple thing... and that is their damage output. I've seen logs of Demis being one-hit taken down from 7k to 1k health. Balestone doesn't do that, so it's okay!

It doesn't kill effects, so people have this unnerving tendency to time the Pollute to hit right before a meld hit, so just in case the poison damage doesn't knock you out, the subsequent stun and damage meld does.
Hardly needed since so many people curl up and die to the first hit anyway, but it's still there.

I'm actually still not sure how I feel about that change. On the one hand, Aquas really needed it. On the other, Geos really didn't...One day, I'd like to see a comparison of Aqua-Maelstrom verses Geo-Pollute verses Pyro-Inferno verses Aero-Cyclone given equal buffs (aside from guild specific ones like the geo's raise staff), same race, same base stats, and same levels of magic rune. I fully expect Pollute to hit harder, I'm just curious how much harder that is, and how much of the Fillin Pollute-o'-Doom is due to him being Fillin.
Also: Mag should only be allowed to use Fillin once per Lusternian month. Raiding with him back to back is like carpet bombing with Fat Man as the ordinance.
EDIT: Forgot about the other two mages.

Pollute will always hit harder than Maelstrom because the only commonly available Poison resistances are in Totems and Glomdoring. Blacktalon have some of the game's best poison resistance- 74 DMP, including Snake, Crow Cloak and Garb - and it still hurts like a bitch.
Edit to your edit: Second in line, I imagine, would be Aeromancers. Lightning resistance is fairly scarce outside of Hallifax, though Galvanism helped address this. Aqua vs. Pyro is a tossup, because they're both very easy to resist, but more races have a Fire weakness than there are races with a Cold weakness.
