Unless we have another cop who struck scum on the first night, then no.
This was in response to me asking if there might be other people with information to share. In looking over the wiki, cops are -not- the only people who can get information. There's trackers, watchers, flavor cops, all sorts of variations. And since this is a theme game, there's likely powers in non-traditional combinations.

However, with the above, I'd be more than willing to switch my vote to Vendetta, Gleip, if you make a bet with me. If Vendetta comes up town from a lynch, then we lynch you tomorrow. No night-killing, we lynch. Is that a deal?
This bet doesn't make sense to me. Isn't it possible for someone to be town and not want to agree to get lynched? What if he has a power he doesn't want us to lose? Would a doctor or a protector want to risk getting lynched? With a theme like this, I think it's likely that almost everyone has a power of some sort.
Is it not possible that Vendetta is -trying- to get us to lynch him? Maybe he can kill some of the people that vote for him, or he's unlynchable, and wants us to waste a lynch. I don't know much about mafia, but it seems like, if someone's asking to be lynched, you shouldn't lynch them.
To talk about the claim here, Ernie isn't -that- obscure of a character. Sure, it took me a second to remember who he was, but once I did, I remembered a fair amount about him. He's not one of those characters that's just a name with some statistics attached. He has a personality, and a backstory, and his own set of motivations. He's actually a pretty important member of the DA, because he's a prefect in his House, and his endorsement of Harry and Dumbledore carries a bit of weight. He's mentioned in every book starting with the second one, and he changes dynamically over the course of the story. Blaise Zabini, now -that's- an obscure character. Everyone though he was a girl until he finally spoke in one of the last books. (By everyone, I mean the readers, hopefully the students all knew he way a guy.)
I still think it's completely possible that not all the important characters are present here. We obviously have a Harry, but I wouldn't be too surprised to find out we don't have a Ron or Hermione. It would be too easy to guess who everyone was if you started at the top of the list of important characters and just went straight down, taking from the top for each faction.
I'm also getting more than a bit frustrated with everyone pointing out "that's a scumtell." From what I've seen, in the wiki, and that people have brought up here, being a newbie is going to get you lynched. Apparently, I've already exhibited a few scumtells, just because I don't understand the intricacies of the game. Knowing that I may make these kinds of mistakes, I'm tempted to keep quiet, but apparently that's a scumtell too!
I'm going to Unvote now because it does actually make sense that no lynch is a bad idea. Thank you for pointing that out and not trying to lynch me for it. I'm still not convinced that I should be voting for anyone else at this point though, so I guess it's just going to go to the deadline.

The trick was I wouldn't do it the next day. Town take risks, scum don't. I've seen it on this forum again and again.
Casilu2010-12-14 00:15:35
Oh, and no scum would be given the unlynchable power and a townie has no reason for us to waste that lynch unless we get something really valuable out of it, but I find it odd that you would even bring that up since I rarely see that power used.

I don't see it as odd since this is my first game, and I was just pulling possible powers out of my ass.

And Lilia, consider this. If we lynch someone today, even if it ends up a lynch based on drawing lots, then we would still have a 1/15 chance of getting a scum. If we vote a no-lynch then we have no shot at all on nailing a scum today, and they get another night to kill of a townie of their choosing.
Just wanted to correct this one... We'd have a 4/15 chance of killing a Death Eater. We'd also have a 2/15 chance of killing off Harry or Fudge.

Approximately one hour until the deadline.

The group leads Vendetta into one of the corridors. One of the people-- was it Dumbledore? was it Voldemort? nobody knows-- animates a suit of armor, which grabs ahold of Vendetta and cleaves him in two.
(( FYI-- I lost the flash drive that had the most recent edition of the roles, so the exact text might be a wee bit off from what I sent you. I didn't change any of the powers, though-- just the exact role text. ))
Just as Vendetta falls to the ground, slain, some Irish Wizarding officials rush in, demanding to know what's going on. As they push themselves towards the body, however, Peeves bursts from behind the suit of armor, taking off for one of the towers, with the Irish wizards in hot pursuit.
It is now Night 1. You have 24 hours to send in your night actions.
EDIT: Nil, my other flashdrive just gave up the ghost too. I've got another partial backup that I'll work from, but some roles' exact text have been lost I'll PM you if I need your role. Sorry about that.

You are Ernie Macmillan, from Hufflepuff. You’re not special enough to get any sort of special power yet, although you are deathly afraid of Lord Voldemort.
You win with the Ministry of Magic.

====THE DAILY PROPHET: MORNING EDITION==================
Breaking news this morning-- the Ministry of Magic reports that last night, the Death Eaters made an attack on Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge while he was sleeping at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and Wizardry. The Ministry assures us that the Minister is alive and well, although the Aurors' office refused to comment on the matter before this paper went to be enchanted, citing an ongoing investigation.
Irish Wizarding authorities have beseeched the Ministry to better protect international figures, citing the close proximity of their own star Quiddich player to the events (and attacks) of the past twenty-four hours.
It is now Day 2. With 14 alive, it takes 8 to lynch.

You know I wouldn't be so angry if it wasn't for people going on about "Oh, this is day one, we can't do nothing" when people have been served such a seven course, five star meal of scumminess.
You must be hungry now since you didn't get that meal you thought was coming.
Casilu2010-12-15 04:53:53
And if that is accurate, the Scum know who Fudge is now.
The first thought should be whether it was a roleblock that protected Fudge or it was the doctor. No, I don't want to Doctor to claim, but if we had a roleblocker last night, it might be nice to see where the roleblocker went.

Yeah. I'm getting really worried at how they're establishing a pattern of accurately targeting high value targets. First an investigator and now Fudge. Thank the stars someone/something saved his tush.

Oh, I forgot I wanted to ask this. I was thinking about it, but it was night so couldn't post. What are some thoughts on Peeves that showed up during the lynch? I wiki'd him, and I can't really tell if he's supposed to be good or bad or independent. I read that he did help the school defend against the Death Eaters and the Named Nameless dude, but also that he's pretty chaotic and doesn't really side with mortals for moral reasons. Anyone able to provide more insight?
Ssaliss2010-12-15 05:50:28
Hard to say, of course, but Peeves is probably nothing to worry about. He's a prankster, not a killer.

Congratulating the doctor? Don't you ever learn?
More importantly, is there any reason why Fudge shouldn't reveal himself since the scum know who he is now?

Indifferent. He's a poltergeist, which is just a spirit that likes to cause mischief. He's not a dead guy or anything, and he seems more tangible than the usual ghosts. He can interact with stuff at least, mainly throwing things at people.
Lilia2010-12-15 06:05:43
Why is an Irish Quidditch player at Hogwarts? Is one of the roles a Quidditch player? Or is that just random flavor?

While I doubt Peeves is part of the scum, I'm equally disinclined to assume he's a townie based on his personality from the books. The most likely role for him to play IMO would be something non-town, but not particularly harmful, like Jester. (C'mon, don't tell me you can't just see him trying to get killed then laughing as his would-be assassin discovers he's already dead!)

I don't see why not. If the scum already know who he is we've got nothing to lose and something to gain by a roleclaim - we don't want to accidentally lynch him, after all. (Especially after he's survived an attempt on his life!) Assuming the doctor/roleblocker/whoever keeps their job up, the scum can't get to Fudge now anyway. What I'm worried about is how god damn accurate they are so far. I don't know if it's just luck, but it's making me a little jumpy!

I don't know scum tells. I'm just me. JUST LET ME BE ME, CASI.
I guess the only argument against it would be if there are other roles like an SK it could possibly turn into two (Or more) kill attempts on him per night or potentially a day kill attempt. I have no idea if that makes a difference in how successful those would be against him as I have no idea what exactly saved him. That's just speculation, though, since we've really only identified the three groups with win conditions stated publicly and a decent chance that there's a roleblocker/doctor amongst us.
