I can think of a couple. Mundungus, for example.

Hmm, seems I was ninja'd. I was responding to Lilia in the above.
With regard to the Ministry being town, it seems that's the case, though the 'eliminate everyone who wins with neither the OotP or the MM' seems odd, if in keeping with the Ministry's decidedly ham-handed and incompetent approach in the books.

Heh, a reveal already, huh? I'm not sure how I feel about that... well, I mean, I'm sure as to how I feel - whenever someone role claims unpressured my spidey sense starts tingling, but rather I'm not sure what to think about it.
Hmm... damn you Vendetta... I don't know how you play but you just feel not right because of some stuff. And why you would role reveal unforced without any way to prove it is just.... grr.
I wouldn't go THAT far down the road of a game sticking to the books. As far as I've ever known, win conditions stated by the mod are as true as you can get. So there's no need to question things the mod revealed in the first post. They clearly point out that while they're not precisely the same, they're both natural allies because of the common enemy and how their win conditions are tied to one another.
More to come after I wake up. Just initial half asleep thoughts here.

Just a funny notion, Gleip was awful quick to jump on Vendetta after I playfully pointed at her.

Hiya.
It seems like the Ministry can only win if Harry is dead. Since both MoM and OotP need all the Deatheaters dead.

False assumption. It says all those who do not win WITH the Order of the Phoenix. Since the Order of the Phoenix needs Harry alive to win, it probably means Harry is not a part of the Order of Phoenix, but wins WITH them.

Why can't Harry be part of the Order? I don't understand your logic. Why does it mean that Harry is probably not in the Order?
Ssaliss2010-12-11 02:01:05
Personally I believe that Harry is in the Order. If we assume it is so; it still doesn't mean that Harry can't be alive for the Ministry to win. And, to be quite frank, I can't even see where such a statement would come from. Care to elaborate?
Ileein2010-12-11 02:03:01
I think I see what's being said. If 1) Harry is alive, 2) everyone who doesn't win with MM or OotP is dead, and 3) all death eaters are dead, the win conditions of both MM and OotP has been met. Does that mean OotP wins, or MM wins, or both?
That's something of a side conversation, though, as I don't think it's tremendously important.

Ssaliss2010-12-11 02:04:02
I'd assume both of them win. Or is that not possible in Mafia?
Unknown2010-12-11 02:07:29
I was just thinking that MoM's win condition satisfies the Order's as long as Harry is alive. Although I guess a simultaneous win is possible.

Because someone else said that re: the books Harry is never actually in the Order of the Phoenix. It's flexible, though, I'm sure. At any rate, even if he is part of the Order, the Ministry doesn't need Harry dead. Ministry wins when everyone but those aligned with the Ministry and Order die.

No, he is part of the Order, but not until after he left school. Whether he's in the Order or not, the Order needs him alive. Also, it wouldn't make sense if the Ministry -needed- Harry dead. They probably don't care either way, as long as the Death Eaters, and whoever else there might be, is dead.

Ok, whatever. I know nothing of Potter and don't care to! Anyhow, just saying that either way, the Ministry does not need Potter dead to win.

I thought I explained my motivations pretty well. Feel free to call them into question if you don't like them.
I'd chalk that up to coincidence.
I'm settling more on this perspective now as well.

Ssaliss2010-12-11 05:07:42
What would happen if the Order wins first? Will the game continue to see if the Ministry meets their win condition as well?
Unknown2010-12-11 05:12:35
Oh, hmm. That's probably going to be something only the mod can answer accurately.
Ssaliss2010-12-11 05:15:13
I guess this situation is far from common then, of having two town-groups with two similar-but-different win conditions?
Mirami2010-12-11 05:15:16
I'll announce that decision when we get there-- it'll be a definite "whatever is more fun" sort of circumstance.
Ssaliss2010-12-11 05:16:31
Gotcha. Thanks! Now back to our regularly scheduled backstabbing and namecalling.
