A casilu dead-line is going to probably be a bad dead-line anyways. She plays crazy rules.

I really don't like the "I'll vote for someone with lots of votes so people talk" and then.. doesn't talk, or add anything.

Okay. I'm here and I've read my way through a lot of stuff. Six pages in one day is giving me a really good feeling about this.
I do not have very much new to add yet. I've barely had time to digest what is being said, but from the two suspects presented by Gleip, I am personally more willing to vote for Phoebus. He is way too much trying to guess the setup of the game, instead of applying logic analysis of the posts already given. Claiming that there is only "slight suspicions and wild accusations" going on is wrong, considering there's already been some pretty good analysis for why he and Othero are potential scums. I also get a feel that he's saying "I'm not really suspicious about Othero, but you guys are saying so anyway so I'll vote for him."

Your and Ileein's claims that we've nothing to go for has already been pretty clearly debunked. But then again, the best place to hide a confession is in plain sight.
You're essentially admitting that you're joining a bandwagon to join a bandwagon. It's easy to read that as such when you're so clearly struggling against an application of logic, instead of waiting for the powers to start flying around.

I agree, how is that going to help break the silence? We've made our accusations, Othero's made his defense, and you contribute absolutely no reasoning of your own to the discussion except to lump on a vote on the person with the most votes.

While it is a bit odd that he gives Phoebus so much heat with his vote, and Othero none, I'm not sure if I believe him to be scum. This wagon formed a bit too quickly on him for that. Either way, let us give him some time to respond. I'm having some new ideas right now...
Diamondais2010-11-10 19:03:35
I'm more than willing to remove my vote if he speaks up more, he's been very quiet since that.
I'm not sure I understand the whole Pot and Kettle bit in regards, since we did wait awhile for him to reply once more before voting.
I see no reason for his vote other than jumping on a bandwagon with zero reason. Reasons would be better.

The point was more that you're voting for him for providing little reason for his vote, while at the same time providing little reason for your own votes.

Arath2010-11-11 02:01:37
The reason I voted for Othero was to get a trap going, because the day seems to be dying pretty fast, and lynching someone is better than waiting for a deadline to cause chaos, or even worse, no lynch. No lynch is only a good idea in some very few situations, and day one is not one of them. And as the discussion afterwards show, deadline is a very relevant threath. Yes, I do consider Phoebus to be a far more likely scum. She started out early with a lot of posts that added little to the game. She keeps claiming that we only have minor hunches to work with. And when the opportunity presented itself, she jumped on a wagon with false accusations. The vote on Othero was in no way to get him to speak, something that should be obvious, seeing that I've not touched on him as scummy earlier. In addition, she's been trying to twist my words to say that a vote without reasoning is an avoidance of logical thinking. This is not so. I have made it pretty clear that it is her constant attempts to divert attention from the suspicious elements that have been already put forth that is the "avoidance of logical thinking". Heck, I've had to catch myself twice writing this as I keep trying to say avoidance of critical thinking. Voting for someone without much reason to show for is not a lack of logical thinking, but it can very well be a lack of critical thinking. For those curious, this is the posts in question.
tl;dr
Phoebus is twisting my words. That is not town behaviour. Agree or not.

Until you explain how this isn't the exact same type of move you'd condemned with your last vote, Vote: Arath for being weirdly flippy floppy.

Or... we could all just be grasping at straws in a pitch-black three-mile-wide room filled with approximately six straws. I forget where my vote was, but wherever it was, unvote. My suspiciousness level has basically leveled out on everyone.
I'm really not trying to be defeatist here, but I honestly do not see the logic; I am finding myself easily explaining away pretty much any odd behavior as just enthusiasm or personality or what have you. Am I missing something obvious?

Guys, if you want to make someone talk, you don't necessarily have to do vote: person and then unvote when they do talk. It artificially inflates the vote count for those people and then we get more bandwagon votes which are probably not warranted.

Also, I'm hesitant to just unvote simply because someone's explaining themselves. This day is going on long enough. We need to commit to someone fully realizing that the odds are in favor of us making a mistake, or we can keep waiting around. But what are we waiting for? No one is going to come out and say they're scum. No one is going to prove themselves innocent, guilty, or otherwise this first day.
Something needs to happen besides all of us being too afraid to make mistakes.

Nah, you're just not paranoid enough yet.
I'm kind of surprised no one has pulled out a "no lynch" request yet, but perhaps everyone can see how that's a losing proposition. I'm still not really buying into the "mafia works by logic" argument either.

After re-reading the thread again, I really wish I had a double vote so I could vote for both Rika and Phoebus. I don't know which is more delicious. Rika starting with
And sticking to it. Knowing that, besides Shaddus, Arix is one of the most naturally scummy guys in all our games just makes it all the more delicious.
Or Phoebus for trying to manipulate Arath's posts and giving this little gem.
Perhaps it's the fact that I'm WAY past bedtime, but I'm seeing OMGUS, a peculiar slip between someone who earlier just couldn't decide on whom to vote, and then later withdrew a vote on Othero because "he was in the range of a ninjalynch" (something to note, Arath was on a similar train with the same amount of votes.) and then delivers a stunning blow of "Also, I'm hesitant to just unvote simply because someone's explaining themselves.". Shortly after
Okay... I lied. If I had a double vote, I would be tossing both on Phoebus. But I don't, so a regular will have to do.
