The immediate hostility was rather off-putting, I'll admit. Hmm.
Arath2010-11-09 23:53:05
Okay. Seeing that we're not really getting anywhere anymore.

Hopefully this'll break the current silence.

Yeah. There are a few "good" candidates out there... For now, my vote sticks to Othero though. We'll see how it looks after night!

Vote Arath

Yeah, this is an OMGUS vote. But come on? Silence? Really? You're voting for me on silence in the hopes of getting people to talk more? I've posted a bunch, I've spoken about as much as I'm willing to talk about right now, I've explained my points. I've been one of the most talkative while you've been relatively silent yet you're going to vote on me because you think it'll get people talking more? No. You're bandwagoning voting and that's scummy first day mafia tactics. You've only followed other people's votes so far and you've given little reason for it. Phoebus because she's making attempts at guessing the mod? Me because of silence? Come on. Actually talk, put out some ideas, and come up with real reasons on why people should be voted on. Don't continue a bandwagon vote on the hope that people will talk. Especially when they have, we've had a lot of discussion for a first day.

You just made almost the exact same vote that you voted for me for making and had criticized as an avoidance of logical thinking. Bluh. Huh? At least I voted because he looked a little suspicious in addition to everyone else thinking that, not just to break the silence. Can't say I understand how your opinion on this changed so quickly. Until you explain how this isn't the exact same type of move you'd condemned with your last vote, Vote: Arath for being weirdly flippy floppy.

Some people get antsy if no one's posted in eight hours or so.

Generally, it is a pretty good thing to see that much volume or more, though it gets ugly when you log in from a long day to find eight unread pages. blackeye.gif

It sometimes seems pretty dead when I'm up and able to post, and then when I go to bed or go do something else the place springs into furious activity

It's because they are waiting to ambush you.

That's how I feel.

Also, I'm a bit wary of Arath's reasonings, voting for Othero is not going to promote anymore real conversation, especially for no visible reason. If people want others to vote for someone, they need to put something very convincing down, and have proof for it, or the person being voted for has to do something that the rest see it as something that seems off. :/

I really hope this made sense, I haven't been awake very long,
Unknown2010-11-10 11:39:56
It makes total sense and is why I voted for him. You can't ask people to talk more, vote for someone in the hopes of getting people to talk more, and not talk yourself.
Unknown2010-11-10 14:35:51
I agree, how is that going to help break the silence? We've made our accusations, Othero's made his defense, and you contribute absolutely no reasoning of your own to the discussion except to lump on a vote on the person with the most votes.

Well, Arath wanted to break the silence so now he did...and redirected stuff towards him instead....

I still feel as we still have nothing truly to go on.
Unknown2010-11-10 15:27:40
That's because we don't have 'anything to go on' in terms of actual, verifiable action, which requires a night to pass, which.. hasn't happened yet. However, there is plenty to try and read or analyse from what everyone has posted so far, so it would be nice if people actually looked for substantiated reasons as to why or why not they're voting.
Unknown2010-11-10 15:30:19
First days should automatically count down to a night. It gets silly after a point. No one wants to vote on people because "omg we don't know anything!" and then get upset when no one talks.

Well yes, in a sense he has, but I think that had to do with the time of day/night it was more than anything.

We don't have anything concrete as Silferras mentioned, going over old posts, looking at what people have done, odd patterns, etc. are always good options.

Maybe a deadline would be good, if we can't come to a decision, the Day is on its second day.
Ayisdra2010-11-10 16:09:39
I have always found that a deadline is nice but having it come to pass only helps the mafia more so then hurt.
Unknown2010-11-10 16:10:57
I'm not really suggesting one, more trying to tell people who are not talking and complaining about the lack of chatter to speak up.
Unknown2010-11-10 16:15:21
So far, the only odd patterns I've observed is the Rika vs Arix thing.
Ileein2010-11-10 16:52:59
I honestly have nothing else to add. =/ A deadline might be necessary, since everyone (including me) is too timid to off someone, largely because odds are they're not scum and we're just hurting ourselves.
Gleip2010-11-10 17:01:33
Well, we can't sit around and do nothing. Either we lynch someone, or we wait for a deadline and end up with a no-lynch, or a lynch we might not really want, depending on how the deadline will work.
