So, when all is said and done, what race should I be hopping to from the current changes? I kinda want to get off the storm trill boat.
Aslaran.

You guys post a lot!
Malarious2010-11-30 03:39:21
Found some other Orclach stuff which I updated the big post above with:
o Flavour thing options.
o Undead spec (instead of mag).
@Sior: We are trying to get things more concise and cut down trolling for you specifically! Can we get some thoughts on the above and other recent discussions?

How come Magnagora suddenly get a new spec race?
Ixion2010-11-30 03:42:50
Orclach should have been a spec for undead since day 1, even if they are crap it should happen for RP reasons.

Can I get a new spec race too? I choose 'Immortal'.

I agree, Glom should get an elfen spec, and Seren should get a faeling spec as well.
For RP.
For RP.
Vadi2010-11-30 03:50:20
Because they should have existed from day 1.

Keep the sarcasm to yourselves. It's unprofessional. It's a key problem in the so-called "envoy wars" and forum topics.
At least provide an argument for your biases, but better yet, try not to be biased.

I was quite serious.
Elfens and faelings have historically strong ties to both communes. Many Glom/Seren NPC's are elfen/faeling who've lived in the place for a long time. Not to mention the history, faerape, etc etc.
I mean if we're all going to be asking for a new spec, what's wrong with piggybacking.
Edit: I feel like the professional line was passed 10 pages ago.

Glom can get undead cant it?
I have no real issue with elfen and faeling being spec races since they gave Hallifax twice the races everyone else gets for little reason. Why is Hallifax the only place with two races? Why did they design that? There is little reason for it, I have no issue with others asking for similar.
I posted each idea, if you are against Orclach being specced say so and why. So far it just sounds like, "Wait another spec race?" instead of a cohesive reason why it is displeasing. Do any of the "light" orgs have any Orclach? Otherwise there are other possible ideas on Orclach in that post I put up including who it was by.
Less overreacting please, just give yays, nays, and thoughts instead of the world ending. Trying to clean this thread up a little.

No, it cannot.
Further, there is also a lot of history about Paladin Orclach (opposing the taint, etc. etc.); that's been the stated Administrative reason in the past for not making Orclach have an undead bonus.

Okay here:
As clear as I can make it - Why are you asking for another spec with even more stats/whatever else to balance around, when our current races are already a pain in the ass to fix.
It's a similar argument to why adding more new afflictions is a bad thing.
Also: Just "undead" spec - so you're saying only Mag should get one. What. Glom can't get/become undead.

A vast majority of this thread has become a virtual grab bag for a number of people - from asking for nerfings of 'the other side' and requests for new specs for 'our side', it's frankly become silly.
If the thread is aimed to address what is inherently wrong with the races that are under-used, then we reached that point around 10 pages ago. The subsequent threads of conversation just became a roiling pot of oddness that barely touches base with the original intent of the overhaul.

Valid reason, post was updated. I wont bother looking up who said it now.
Thank you.

I was counting crow cloak as meaning undead, forget it just allows influencing them.
New afflictions arent a bad thing, we did a whole overhaul trying to remove and adjust afflictions, have some more trying to be removed then we made timewarp, temp insanity, etc that dont just do something they break the standard system of curing (really messes with normal focus curing).
Also, from here on out if you say something akin to "Races Info" or "Races Post" or something similar I will report. Preferably put them in bold so I see it easier, but if you don't I will end up seeing it eventually.

Regarding orclach spec:
Objectively, it would be "cool". No doubt. However, it seems problematic.
1) Balance wise, base orclach are pretty extremely locked in to one archetype. If they have to be balanced around undead orclach spec knights, they're REALLY going to be junk elsewhere. If that's not a problem on base premise, remember that they're also the pureblade specialist race.
2) RP wise, if we're doing that, are tainted-but-not-undead orclach "orcs", until they get undead? Its sorta potentially wonky. Will they get orclach caster specs? That would be a pretty wild stat flip.
3) If we went down that road, what about Celest and Gaudi? Should we work up other spec races for them? If not, why work them up for Mag/communes?
