This is referring to the "natural" miss rate, which is independent of stance/parry/dodging. It's just us being clumsy with our weapons, and it's a bit bogus compared to every other attack that does not miss (or at least has a greater chance to hit). My average miss rate on denizens is just over 5% with no stance/parry/dodging/dexterity calculations involved.

Well... nothing should be "absolute." How about +3% to bring a 95% success rate up to 98%?
My issue with this is only monks/warriors can miss, every other class hits 100% of the time (except for those nasty dodging skills).

If it's around 5%, remove it.
Make oil reduce dodge chance by 3%. Note that this would extend to monks as well.

Do monks even have a natural miss rate?

The thing about monks is that they're a completely different class altogether. Sure we share some common elements, but beyond that, we're vastly different. That's why I want us to focus a little bit on what's wrong with warriors for now, and try to give them that little catch-up they need.
I'm not saying that I don't want monks to have their problems fixed or anything, but I really think whatever applies to them needs to be balanced toward them specifically. We shouldn't really be looking to share properties.
As was suggested in this topic, making oil of sharpness remove a trans warrior's natural miss rate would actually be fine. So long as we can actually achieve that, why not?
I still think power attacks like assaults, lunges, crushes and so forth should pretty much never miss. They're our crutch to fall back on when the RNG just hates us or when we need to get past a barrier. It pains me to double lunge and have both or one of them miss when I really needed that at the specific moment. I'm all for certain things not being 100% certain, but since every other class out there has a means of hurting and hindering you without much concern, I think at least this shouldn't be too much to ask for?
Granted this is just a stepping stone. I might be wrong, but I don't think we need -drastic changes-. We just need our attacks to become a little more reliable so we feel as if a whole fight isn't luck dependent.
The other problems that need looking at are poisons and the problem with occasionally having bad luck and hitting chest a great deal.
I see there's a new report in the works for our miss rate, so good work for actually getting that out there! It's been a while since we've had a meaningful envoy report from the looks of it.

The oil of sharpness is shared by both monks and warriors. It would alleviate some of the dodging, but as a consequence, monks would get to use it too.
Sidd2011-01-19 16:17:47
It also wouldn't affect warriors at all, it would only improve things, if anything it's kind of a nerf to bards/monks unless it applied to all the different types of dodges (foresight etc.)

So much HATE for foresight. A plate wearer dodging what feels like every other attack just isn't right.

As long as the current RNG system controls which warrior affs proc, warriors will continue to suck. Overhaul the RNG or trimming off a tiny bit of natural miss will mean precisely bupkiss, save for more ages before warriors actually get fixed. Either remove the RNG entirely from aff proc determination, and redistribute wound levels, or change it so that it normalizes around each wound level, so you don't have to have -twice- critical wounds to get a 50% chance of proc'ing a behead (assuming it hits on head, which means that hack down, the only thing that proc's it, has two random places it can hit, further reducing the odds. Factor in stance, parry, rebounding. Good frigging luck. There's a reason Axelords like Veyrz are blowing damn near every other warrior out of the water in terms of kill speed, Execute bypasses the RNG, while all other warriors get to flay and pray.)
