It's not really fair to say 'all the time', but it sure looks like it to me. So we'll say 'way more often than you think'.
Mirami2010-12-18 21:13:33
I think 'as often as Shuyin raids' is probably pretty accurate.
Which to Shuyin, is all the time. to Iasmos/Enyalida, it's not so often, since seren never puts up shrine powers against Celina/Sidd (distort from a shrine doesn't stop orgbix). They really only go up against 4+ demigods (usually more) that stick around. So while shrine effects are up, say, 5% (maybe 10%) of the time Iasmos and Enyalida defending Etherwilde, they're up 90+% of the time Shuyin raids Etherwilde.

Sounds about right.
It's not actually a raid if the raiders don't stay. It's just a hit and run then.

There are too many tl;dr posts, so I'll just throw a few thoughts sorry if it's already been said.
The layout for Etherwilde is excellent for demesnes and shrines, they're pretty much impossible to take out unless you actually kill Avatars, and if people actually are going for the avatars, setting the demesne to be hard to break at least 2 of them is simple with Lesser Demesne rune. With the Cradle area, we got a lot of extra space to fit 3 full shrines. We also got a pretty good choke point close to the entrance.
In Etherglom they got the same choke point right by the entrance, but then instead of everything being spread out, it's all packed into a small, tight area at the opposite end of the entrance. If they can hold the room south of their nexus, they essentially have cut raiders off from everything but shrines and some trees, and I don't think anybody can argue that the clumps of daughters that can form up when they have a lot up can be extremely tough to deal with.
I think Etherwilde has the better end of things generally, but the one thing that does bother me is the Aspect entrances. Etherglom's used to be nigh-impenetrable at the nexus, now it's just one room off from the nexus, and almost as far from the archway as it can get. Etherwilde's is one room from the archway, at the room right before our choke point.

What's this crap about shrines? I can almost singlehandedly stop a raid by throwing up Gravity. Lendren does the same thing. Back when Celina was really being a pain in the ass it was put up hourly. It's the quickest way to get rid of people, really. Unless they have a group that seriously outguns you, shrine effects make them leave.

Gravity stops some raiders entirely and others not really at all. It depends on who they are and what they get off on.

And who you have around. It makes the "run around and laugh at people who chase you" style kind of moot, so they need a group that can win a head to head fight.

On the four seconds to Aspect time, that is how long it actually took me to enter archway, move north, enter stone, and regain balance to theoretically hit the Aspect right there (should take the exact same amount of time with a group or less, I was using lightning and the entrances are all balance taking)
Nothing anyone does will really stop one person hit raids.
I wasn't describing a perfect raid situation from Glom, but a defensive situation in EtherGlom, that are either less feasible in EtherSeren or (only slightly) impossible for us. As Lehki mentioned, you have the chokepoint south of your archway and an additional choke point south of your nexus.
If our Aspects were anywhere but our choke point, it wouldn't be important where it was, really. (barring being on a supermob or behind one, of course) I think that moving it one north off of that point would fix that somewhat, if moving it to one of the lower rings is really a big deal.

I'd love for the EtherWilde nexus to be moved further from the entrance, really. Main area of fighting happens in a very toad-friendly area.

Two years ago, I used to ask offpeak MDs to place sylphs above the Avatars, especially if only one person was raiding. Ba dum ching.
