Just starting to look into some indie games and read a few bloggers who write on the topic. I came across Aquaria looking for a Castletroid style game for the Mac. Haven't had this much fun and intrigue in ages. Other recommendations?

An Untitled Story! 2D Metroidvania platforming. You play an egg.

EDIT: Downloadable here, along with a few other games by the same dude, including the CRAZY HARD platform game Jumper. (Don't download it, please. You will become like me.)

Attack of the Killer Swarm.

So relaxing, helps me gather my thoughts.

Also, you should try World of Goo.

The Spirit Engine 2 is a freeware indie RPG that's pretty good.

Ooh, some of these look fun.

World of Goo is very fun, I played the demo for a bit.

I hate you and the other person who lead me to this game.
WTF IT heals and does AoE Damage once it's done healing! I just started playing!

I admit it's a pretty fun game though.

It gets pretty tough later, you can't just grind like in most RPGs, you have to actually think about what you're doing. Good stuff.

Personally, I quite enjoy Quintessence: the Blighted Venom. It's still in development and has some rough edges, and it has a higher Story-to-Gameplay ratio than some movies, but I enjoy the style. Have a look at the short game/vignette The Mirror Lied while you're there. The thing's bloody creepy.

I just played and completed The Mirror Lied.

Not many of these are free, but I've come to enjoy them. They're meditative and exploratory a la MYST. There are demos floating about as well. Reccomendations: Forest, Fatale and Path.

And this one's a simple flash game, funny but an interesting concept: Garden of Dreams

EDIT: Apparently they are also part of the Steam holiday sale smile.gif

From this I have learned that I possess neither intuition nor psychic powers, alas.
