8 paintbrushes
2 flowerpots
1 symbol of the gods
3 daggers
240 dingbats
27 pocketbelts
Enough gold to be lazy for a while
Just prudent estimates, but let's go with them. Traded everything but the symbol in.

My goodness, that's a lot! Where do you find your gnomes?!
Edit:
I got:
1 keystone(traded in)
1 dagger(traded in)
1 paintbrush(traded in)
4 pocketbelts(traded in)
Actually, those pocketbelts replenished my rift. I wish I had been around more for the gnome drops, but at least I still managed to presents! Thanks!

Beast reflect + trotting kept me together during UV runs pretty nicely. Until Laurelin ran out of mana. >_<

Real pros just run through the fishers. And influence gnomes in one hit.

Suggestion for next Solstice: make it harder to influence each successive gnome, give others a chance... maybe.

Or limit the number of gifts you can get per gnome-drop?

I dunno. Limiting the amount of gifts you can get means that some people will influence gnomes, get a coupla pocketbelts, then be told "Kay, you've had enough!" - whereas with Zarquan's idea you can keep at it, albeit with progressively more difficulty.

I think it would do some people well to hear that.
Anyhoo, I only half-heartedly looked for gnomes once or twice and never found any. I'm not too broken up about the fact that none ever dropped precisely where I was standing.
Sylphas2010-12-29 17:38:42
If you just made a TON more gnomes drop, but gave most of them a chance to give out one vial, or a half full pocketbelt, it might even things out. You can still grind down gnomes for good stuff, but it would give more people a chance to see one and get something.
Then again, it's kind of frustrating seeing people pull a dozen paintbrushes and get 1k+ credits, while you stock up pocketbelts, so that issue would probably still be there.

I don't think more gnomes would help, I like to think that the number of gnomes dropped has fluctuated as new areas get released each year.

I think the system is good as is...if you didn't get a single gnome, you were either really, really unlucky, or weren't looking hard enough. :\\
You just need to run around 4 or 5 areas each time they drop - have a pre-planned circuit in mind.
And running around an org/roads/mountains isn't good enough. There are too many people on those, so you're unlikely to get to anything before someone else, and by the time you finish one of those areas all the other places will be cleared out. You can't expect a gnome to land in the same room you are, or even within a few rooms.

Doing routes with Trotting and a puzzle still only got me one gnome per drop except the one time I was super lucky, and even that was just me walking through the mountains. If I tried to search 4 or 5 areas I found nothing. I either puzzled down to UV and searched tunnels, or puzzled to a milestone and ran like the wind through the mountains.

The key is knowing areas and going to places that have the most exits so you can squint in multiple directions. I have a trigger that highlights GNOME when it pops up, so I don't have to scrutinize every line. Pick locations that have multiple areas, aka Verasavir Valley is right by the tar pits, Torobolla, Tide Pools, Clarramore, etc. That way you can cover the most ground in the shortest amount of time.
