You can only be referencing Kiradawea and Kialkarkea, and yet both of those have five syllables.

Why can't I say people's names?!

No man, they're definitely five syllables.

Nope, although I do know who Ridley is (apparently not a giant space dragon though.)

@Tully: Gero and Gelo were complete coincidences and unrelated - Gero was from Hawaii, Gelo the Philippines (sp). Nejii is unrelated to Tsuki and Zenji, but Tsuki and Zenji were siblings in real life so that may or may not have something to do with it. Yuniko and Yukari were friends and did that on purpose (And one more, Yuya I think), but Yurika is unrelated AFAIK. And Xavius and Xenthos are alts so that one will definitely have been on purpose.

I had meant Yukari, for some reason I forgot the latter's name. (I used to joke about them being the Yuyus).

I had honestly thought many of you use the same sources. I thought Nejii, Zenji, and Tsuki were based on Japanese names you find in Anime and Final Fantasy, as they all sound similar. I was just thinking about where they got the inspiration, and if similar sources bred similar names.

And I completely forgot Kiradawea and Kialkarkea, not to mention Kiarlea.

I remember Richter kicking me out of the Ebonguard when I decided to make an alt there cause I choose the name Ashleigh and he decided that shouldnt be a guys name and was inappropriate....

Then Ialie adopted me when I was Ialei...

I think the uber Magnagora name will always be Nayl... well at least in my head cause I pronounced it nail.

I have no idea where Zenji comes from but Tsuki just means "moon", so yeah.

I honestly can't remember why I came up with Maellio as a name, other than an excuse to use the -ae- vowel (in my mind Maellio is a six letter word), as a throw back to my four years of Latin in HS.

The last name I remember being me playing around with a few online dictionaries (Polish and French I think) and coming up with something vaguely related to 'Chosen Blood' or 'Chosen Relation'. As for the apostrophe, I've always seen it as an actual glottal stop. So Onz'Verheu ends up being something like "ONS-?-VAIR-hue'. As for the all the apostrophe crazy names... I got nothing.

Haha, I just found a english-to-x translator, threw words that I associated with Glomdoring at it, and tried all the languages until I found two or three words that I liked, and then fit them together like Lego pieces.

Like Maellio, I liked the 'ae', which is why I used it twice. happy.gif Wasn't due to Latin though, I just liked the way it looked.

My favourite Lusternian name ever: Nokraenom
And then, I read his books.
And then, I saw the awesome forum signature banner he had.

I always liked Saaga until someone shouted out "SEEEGAAA!" at me on the Forums. The name itself is Finnish and means, well, a saga. I have always liked names which mean something, especially in a language nobody knows. But obviously I should have chosen Nauta or Tuuli instead.
Ileein2010-12-30 15:34:19
You should obviously not have chosen Nauta, as that would have conflicted with family history. Tsk, tsk.

Nice thinking, but I never thought of Saaga as all that... meaty. Naturally the point would be to choose a word with a pretty, flattering sort of meaning. Like... butterfly, or rainbow. Kitten. Cupcake?

I can't work out what my favourite/most memorable names are in Lusternia because I can't separate them anymore from the people behind them. I think names pick up connotations/meanings after a while based on the character of the owner, irrespective of how the word sounds by itself.

Saaga here in our country means, "In the Morning", and spelled "sa aga".

My name never stands out. I like to think of myself as just another Random NPC

There are names I like, but those names strike out because of the players. Shamarah, Arix (pronounced Airie tongue.gif ), Ixion, Daevos, Nasrim.

When names get all complicated with the Nayerilithiel, Selethir, Thilamatharel, Phenylalanine or Selenocysteine I just lose interest

Really!? Wow, they even made different forum accounts for each too. That's some mad multi-playing skills.

Reminds me of a story from another forum I frequent, about a guy who had created several different accounts, then feigned suicide on one such persona and reported it with another of his personas. The admin discovered it, banned all his characters, and there was much shoulder-patting, triteness and feigning empathy

Here though, the guy I think of realized that he had made himself a Persona non Grata, and left, for the good of all.
Aicuthi2011-01-02 01:42:36
Aicuthi(aye-keu-thi) was something I picked out of the lucidian namegen. It sounded the most legible/cohesive/feminine out of all the jumbled garbage it produced. When I'm planning character concepts, I always map them out with neurotic authenticity.

I am charmed.

Still a name thief though. Thief.

Don't go stealing this cookie.

Hey, you took my name. It's not my fault you stole it a day before I made the toon.

Damn aeonics.

We also would have accepted Oxcock.

Funny that after making this thread and giving it more thought, I kinda do like Wuylinfe as a name. I think it's very true that names grow on you not because of the appearance (maybe it's 25% of it) but the association.
Well, only way to get it changed now is to become an Ascendent chin.gif I wonder how that works (do all seal holders have to come up with a new name in case they become the winner?)

After you Ascend, I believe Estarra pokes you about it. Otherwise we'd never have gotten Fillin.
