That seems fair. If Vendetta's story proves false, then that's an obvious sign of guilt. I doubt anyone really guilty would do something so monumentally stupid.

Smart scum tactic would be to claim a power role and let the real one claim so you can kill them, though that does not sound like this.
Ileein2011-01-20 05:28:36
Yeah, the thing about powers makes me think we can't be sure there's only one of any given thing, even if there's variations and things. That would mean such a tactic would be basically useless.
Ileein2011-01-20 05:29:05
At least, basically useless given a rational town, which I think is a fair presumption?

It is rare to have a second of a very powerful and specific role(doctor or investigator), so that is the normal fake claim. All this is moot, anyway as you only do that before a lynch.

Then I suppose we shall sit on our hands henceforth until some sort of incriminating circumstantial evidence comes to light!
You'd like that, wouldn't you?

Furien2011-01-20 06:00:25
That's bull, Tekora. Jumping on someone for awaiting an explanation? Would you rather everyone espouse their night actions and reveal their roles in the process? Clearly that's the more productive option, right?
Either way Vendetta is mostly correct.
I'm David Bowie.
At night, I can incapacitate someone, swap outfits (:|) and leave them tied up in my place at night. In practical terms it works like a roleblock; but at the same time, any actions done to my target will be done to me instead, and vice-versa. Though, in this case, I imagine that tracker or watcher roles take precedent over my own actions! I win with two conditions: if I manage to survive to the endgame or when the town manages to eliminate the scum faction.
I did target Romierten with it last night and managed to pull the switch off successfully. I can't really say why I targeted Romierten any more than Vendetta can say why they decided to watch me. It's Night 1 and I got lucky. Well, at the expense of someone else.
Either way Vendetta is mostly correct.

Two win conditions? I find that a little difficult to swallow. Especially since you pretty much just repeated the same thing. Or does 'Town eliminates Scum' NOT count as endgame?
I call fakeclaim. Vote stays.
Tekora2011-01-20 08:14:48
Oh, and Bowie is widely considered as a 70's artist. Not 60's. Chalk that up against Furien's claim too.
Gleip2011-01-20 10:43:46
I don't like day ending so quickly, but sure. I'll believe Vendetta for now. Especially since we already had a roleblocker, so it seems strange that Furien would be semi-town roleblocker+busdriver.

Sorry, I was out at sea for the past 4 days without internet access. Lemme catch up on the posts.

Other than the minor flavor issue that I would agree that Bowie is more iconically 70s than 60s, I suppose we could just have a very confused mod, or one with a different opinion. It is Jack after all...
But I believe Vendetta more than I believe Furien. I see no reason for him to lie. I suppose he might have a murder-suicide power like what Ssalis had, so maybe he's hoping to get two more townies if he's scum, but it seems sort of unlikely to have shared powers.
I'd like to hear from some other people before we drop the hammer, but I really don't see it going anywhere but Furien at this point, without some good information.
Unvote: Caerulo
Giant Finger of Suspicion: Furien

My own problem with Furien's claim is that it doesn't account for whoever the other people I saw last night were, and muddles up the what-outfit-I-was-snooping-on-when case. In the most likely scenario, it would mean imply a survivor with a mason relationship(s), which means we're still not getting the full story, and is also a role set-up I have never seen anywhere before.

Vote Furien
It is simple enough in that one of the two of you are lying and Vendetta has the more believable story.

Votecount:
Furien - 6 (Vendetta Morendo, Casilu, Ileein, Tekora, Gleip, Othero)
"Come on, don't you believe me?" pleads Furien, backing up against a wall. "I'm Bowie! I'm Bowie! Ground control to Major Tom...". Furien continues mumbling off-key Bowie lyrics until it becomes painfully apparent nobody's listening. "Ah, screw it! I KILL CHILDREN! LOVE TO SEE 'EM DIE! I KILL CHILDREN, MAKE THEIR MAMAS CRRRRY!" The screaming lyrics continue unabated until Furien's strung up from a tree.
Furien was The Dead Kennedys!
"Last call for alcohol, last call for your freedom of speech..."
You're a hardcore left-wing punk band from 1970s California. You're very clearly out of place here. And that's cuz you masterminded a diabolical time-travel centric scheme: you want to wipe all these 1960s corporate lackey "icons" off the face of the musical map! By killing them now, you ensure music doesn't degenerate into farcical prog-rock or hair-metal in the 1970s and 80s. No Velvet Underground is a small price to pay for no Pink Floyd - or, worse, Poison. *shudder*
Abilities:
GODFATHER - You're the leader of the resident Musical Mafia. You can communicate with BLANK and BLANK at night via PM to discuss strategy.
BLEED FOR ME - Once a night, you can nightkill any player you choose, selecting either yourself, BLANK or BLANK to perform the task.
You win with the Mafia.
And with that, Day Two is over and Night Two begins! Send in your night actions post-haste.
Furien - 6 (Vendetta Morendo, Casilu, Ileein, Tekora, Gleip, Othero)

Man, I should've gone to bed later - you guys got your night actions in promptly. Two bodies this time.
The first: Ileein, also known as JIMI HENDRIX.
"And some castles made of sand fall in the sea... eventually."
One of the greatest guitar players of all time, and certainly the most innovative, you've influenced generations of would-be rockstars - even if they've only mimed playing a mop during the intro of Voodoo Child (Slight Return), you've had an impact. Godspeed, man.
Abilities:
FIRE - You recognise the danger presented by these murdering goons. They could destroy the legacy of your music, and that can't be allowed to happen. Once during the game (at night), you can choose a player to kill, wielding your riffs as a weapon to blow their minds.
You win with the town.
The second: Tekora, alias THE VELVET UNDERGROUND.
"Feel sick and dirty, more dead than alive, I... I'm waiting for my man."
You are the legendary art-rock group managed and initially funded by Andy Warhol. While never a mainstream group in your own time, you achieved critical acclaim in the modern era, and are regarded as one of the most groundbreaking acts of the sixties: a forerunner of alternative rock and punk alike.
Abilities:
HEROIN - When the smack begins to flow, you really don't care anymore. But in this life or death situation, you're willing to share the wealth a little. Once a night, you can INJECT to deaden their nerves, protecting them from nightkills.
You win with the town.
Farewell Night Two and hello Day Three!
