Well, you're thinking about things too linearly- keep in mind the origin of Cal.
Dream Cal existed first on Derse, and was, as we now know, brought into being by Gamzee to torment Dave. Derse exists outside of time, as is the nature of the Incipisphere. Rose threw Dream Cal out of the tower, and he landed on Bro's hoverboard, which eventually made its way to one of the meteor labs. That lab was the lab where John eventually created the paradox clones of the kids and their guardians, and Cal was sent with baby Bro through one of the meteor portals once the Reckoning began, transporting the both of them from the kids' session (non-time) to the kids' universe ("present" time).
He eventually ended up back in the kids' session with Bro and then on Alternia and then in the trolls' session ("then" implying a progression through the storyline, not in a progression of TIME sense, since sessions exist outside of time, and Alternia existed an untold amount of time before the kids' universe), but that's mostly irrelevant to the point, which is that Dream Cal is Real Cal is Created By Gamzee.
