One million essence = ten lessons!
Ryboi2011-03-01 20:31:02
What is the conversion rate of essence to lessons for Veneration?
Ssaliss2011-03-01 20:32:55
I think someone once said that Veneration was worth 160m essence when transed. That'd make it roughly one lesson per 100k essence.
Lendren2011-03-01 20:43:00
Nope, it's 120M.
Ssaliss2011-03-01 20:48:43
Ah, so roughly 70k essence per lesson then.

Well that would be fair then, you have to work for it and you can get your lessons.

Erm if you read my orginal post I said essence for LESSONS, not credits. That way they are personal and can't be sold. That way a Demigod can still advance in their skills but they have to work for them.

You're right, sorry, reading fail on my part. sad.gif Disregard my last reply.

Makes a change for it not me making the mistake! haha! But yeah I feel that as a Demigod the only way to get lessons is to get gold and the credit market is going up and up. If it was to be so we could exchange essence for lessons then we could still work on transing our skills biggrin.gif
Unknown2011-03-01 21:12:24
It's not all that difficult to get out and earn the gold/credits for skills. The difference with Veneration is that you cannot use lessons on it, so making a conversion rate from essence to lessons based on that measure is a fallacy.
Calixa2011-03-01 21:24:21
If it would make credits cheaper for leveling characters it would be kinda nice. But credits being cheaper is also a double-edged sword.

Gold is far from the only way though, but I still think demis are at a clear advantage when it comes to other means like contests like weekranks. There were the tiered greathunts which were nice in theory but people were very obviously cheating those with dying to level down. Lotteries are neat, but still very luck based, and can to some extent also be gamed. There's arts and bardics but not everyone is creative.

I also wonder how much essence for lessons would change. Those who don't like to hunt for gold are probably those having a harder time with it, which I also assume are those who do not gain all that much essence. Unless they do an awful lot of aetherhunts. And while a group effort should be commended, it can also cause cliques to form even more around those who have mastered aetherhunts, hard for others to get into.

I was stuck in the mid-80s for a while because I did nothing but pick herbs, and that got me all my skills right there, so everyone who insists that hunting to get lessons is the best way just hasn't tried selling herbs. wink.gif

Would we be able to make a way so Demigods/Ascendants can trade in their essence for lessons?

No.

As for limiting Avatars/Cults, what would then happen to all the gods that have more than one already? More likely if a cap is needed they'll implement a soft cap like with ascendants.

Edit: And yeah, there's pleeeenty of ways to get credits/lessons without hunting.

But... but that's herbs. Herbs is cheating.

And it still rules out 8 guilds who can't take herbs as a tradeskill. tongue.gif

A soft cap already exists on the number of cults a god can have, relative to the size of their godrealm.

We're not looking at adding further restrictions.
Unknown2011-03-01 23:54:12
Sure, that seems fair.

So what do the other gods do when you make all of the Demigods in the game Avatars of Eventru? tongue.gif

Band together and try to overthrow Eventru before he takes over the entire Basin?
Eventru2011-03-02 09:53:57
Get on my good side, of course!

I'm pretty sure your god realm is bigger then all of Serenwilde's combined. ):
