and keep in mind that I am entirely at the mercy of Tekora's flavor text here

QUOTE (Tekora @ Mar 4 2011, 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
After striking down Razenth, Ssaliss rides into the middle of the battlefield and turns his steed towards Arix's army, berating and decrying him as a rebel and boasting of his ability to strike him down just as easily as he did Razenth. Arix, undeterred, accepts Ssaliss' challenge without a word and simply rides forth, his spear raised high as Ssaliss spurs his own horse forward to meet him...

The two generals trade blows for a total of well over 100 passes, without either man gaining the advantage. Ssaliss attempts to fire an arrow at Arix in between passes, but it is expertly deflected as they ride forth again, clashing for another 50 passes more. Finally, Ssaliss again goes for his bow, but Arix is ready for him, turning sharply and managing to deal a considerable blow to Ssaliss' back, but not managing to pierce his armor as it causes the general to slump forward in his saddle as he withdraws to his own lines, leaving Arix triumphant...

Arix's vote counts double for the rest of the day.

Ssaliss has lost the ability to vote for the rest of the day.

QUOTE (Arix @ Mar 4 2011, 03:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
your reasoning is not terrible, however it is incorrect. My ability is to force the winner of a duel to show mercy, I have no special ability to boost my standings in a duel that I know of ( don't know how duels are resolved)

Arix is Zhao Yun.

He's Shu, Ssaliss is Shu, that's why you'll see neither of them attacked each other after the duel, and why Ssaliss decided not to reveal Arix's role.
Ileein2011-03-07 02:12:51
I know nothing about the source material, but the reasoning seems valid.

Ssaliss rides out from his army to attempt to goad Phoebus into a duel, but she is having none of it, staying in rank and ignoring the general's taunts. Her soldiers begin to murmur and doubt the resolve of their commander and their morale suffers as a result...

Phoebus has lost the ability to vote for the rest of the day.

With the loss of Phoebus' vote, it will now take 6 to lynch.

Modnote: This does not count as today's duel.

The people who are keeping quiet about their identities bother me.

What do you have to hide?
Ssaliss2011-03-07 03:08:03
Oi. Didn't know something bad would happen if you just refused it... If that was in the first post, I must've missed it. Sorry Phoebus sad.gif
Ssaliss2011-03-07 03:09:23
By the way... Can you withdraw your challenge, or are all challenges to duels set in stone?
Unknown2011-03-07 03:32:20
I wouldn't read so much into the spear, Caerulo. Everyone's gone into battle with spears.
Unknown2011-03-07 03:38:22
sad.gif Awww. So wait, the people who didn't respond to the challenges issued before mine don't face any penalty, but if I actually respond and say "nah bro" instead of ignoring it completely I'm punished? :/

Every single person before accepted the duel. It says in the first post that anyone who doesn't accept a challenge automatically loses their vote.

I have a legit reason to hold off on claiming, at least for now.

I could have sworn that someone else had not responded to a duel before now, but I guess I was misremembering. And I completely missed that point (and apparently Ssaliss did too), but going back to re-read it does indeed come up with that little tidbit being squished within all the other duel stuff. Awww.
Llesvelt2011-03-07 04:46:38
I guess you probably can't explain the reason you feel it is legit since that would defeat the purpose, though?

Rather convenient excuse if you were scum and did not want to expose yourself, I think. Not necessarily that that is the case, but still.

Fiiine, I'm pretty sure I could explain it and still be good. Basically, I belong to one of two kingdoms, and once I claim I have to choose which. I would rather not do that until it suits me best. suspicious.gif
Arix2011-03-07 05:49:22
Caerulo's guess was in fact correct
Arix2011-03-07 05:50:01
Also, apologies to Foobus, but I can only protect a duelist if I happen to be around when the duel is resolved

Not good enough for me at this stage of the game.

WITHDRAW ARMY FROM KALANEYA

ORDER ARMY ATTACK PHOEBUS
Arix2011-03-07 05:57:35
Also, ORDER ARMY WITHDRAW FROM CAERULO , since he is now participating

I am somewhat inclined to agree.

ORDER ARMY TO ATTACK PHOEBUS

sad.gif Ok, ok, I get it, I'll claim now. I'd come up with something cool and in-character to say here but I am pretty much 100% unfamiliar with the source material so no awesome moment for me:

I am Sun Shang Xiang, and I choose to fight on the side of the Wu. Now I can't save it up for a potential Shu underdog victory, which would have been awesome.
Llesvelt2011-03-07 06:57:07
Bah! Wu rebel dog!

But fine, you are not my target today, I seek the servants of Dong Zhuo.

WITHDRAW ARMY FROM PHOEBUS

Speaking of which, nobody got any intel on any even slightly scummy activities?

I think we should begin looking into those who have not claimed. Also if there is any reason to doubt any claims made so far.
Rika2011-03-07 07:46:27
Wasn't the first person I expected you to claim, but I can see how that works and unless someone else claims her, I'll believe that.
