This isn't your first game Rika. I can't think of a good reason any townie would want to have a no lynch on day one. We don't even have a time limit set. Your proposal is strikingly premature.

I don't think we can really get anything achieved here since we don't even know if there is a scum team. For all we know, it could be everyone is already in one of the three factions: Wei, Wu or Shu and we're just trying to see which faction we can randomly reduce today. I think a night for actions to take place would do us all some good.

I'm somewhat on the same page as you are, but for a whole other reason.
It's already been all but proven that there is a rebel faction. The first post says "you must root out these rebels and preserve the sanctity of the Han", and at least my win condition mentions making sure there are no threats to the sanctity of the Han. I'm somewhat certain the rest of you have at least similar statements. Do we know for sure? No, of course not, and we likely won't until we kill one of them. I am, however, very convinced that there is a rebel group among us.

Oh, and in regards to the Armistice thing... I certainly won't endorse such a vote, but at the same time, I don't see it as obvious rebel sign by someone with a bit of experience. I would expect the rebels to lay low and not draw attention to themselves, and making such a vote certainly classifies as drawing attention to yourself. That doesn't mean I think Rika is friendly though; right now I'm suspicious, but not because of the armistice vote.

It's simple, if we lynch someone, that person might be scum.
If we skip ahead to night then one or more townies will die with no risk to the scum and leaving us none the wiser.
There is no reason to rush toward a situation where we will lose townies while gaining nothing.

Thirded on us having a 'scum' group (probably the Yellow Turbans). Why is there lingering doubt about that? There's probably a serial killer character too, since the number of players we have a really high...and I can't imagine Romance of the Three Kingdoms without having a Dong Zhuo.
(The following is a noob question for my future mafia-playing knowledge. I want to understand why no lynch is contraindicated on day 1. It seems like more info on who is who would be good, but I also get the feeling that because lynching is the only tool (that we know of right now) to take out the scum. So therefore we should be lynching regardless day 1 instead of waiting on night? Is there another reason I am not understanding?)

Wow, Llandros answered the question I had before I asked it. I am impressed.

Just to say, yeah ignore my number speculating earlier, I thought there was only 20 people for some reason.
Agree with the opinion that there's more than just the one anti-Han faction. As to why? Just based on the numbers.
Am suspicious of one person in particular, but will keep quiet on that until there are a few more posts from them to see if suspicions hold up.
(also will be heading to a table-quiz and then going drinking, so sporadic check-ins, if any)

It's not just this, it's also that we gain information about the rest of the players involved (who started the bandwagon on the person, who jumped on the bandwagon, etc).

Okay, I'll admit I misunderstood the text slightly. I think that was when we were preparing for a game of HoN so I wasn't really paying full attention to what I was reading. I thought the people trying to take down the Han court were Wei and Wu, as I'm pretty sure only Liu Bei's Shu-Han kingdom really wanted to continue the Han Dynasty.
With that, I'll err.. WITHDRAW ARMASTICE or however you are meant to do it.

Liu Bei did want to do what was right for the country, but they all wanted to claim a right to the throne. I guess that's preserving the sanctity of the Han.

As the battle continues to rage on, a sudden sounding of a horn brings the combat to a halt. All eyes turn to the middle of the battlefield, where an Imperial procession makes its way towards Casilu's army.
The Imperial messenger approaches Casilu, who stands at the head of her army, awaiting him. The bureaucrat unfurls a scroll and proclaims that by order of the Prime Minister Dong Zhuo and with the authority of His Majesty, the Emperor Xian, Casilu is ordered to vacate the battlefield and move immediately to subdue the rebellious northern tribes.
A hush falls over the field as all recognize that such an assignment is suicide and Casilu stands stunned at such a prospect. However, she sets her jaw and solumnly pays obeisance to the messenger before leading her army away to face their all-but-certain end...

Casilu was Zhang Jiao, the Sage of Heaven!
You are Zhang Jiao. Once a simple scholar, you visited the Southern Hermit one day and received an ancient tome called 'The Way of Peace'. With the power within, you learned to harness the magics of Heaven and now stand poised to unite the whole of China under the glory of the Yellow Turbans!
Storm - During the day or night, you may PM me with the phrase 'HEAVEN, HEAR MY CALL!'. You will summon a great storm that will make any special actions impossible for the reminder of that period. You may use this ability 3 times.
Brainwash - Using the power of the Way of Peace, at night, you may choose an opposing general to influence and bring to your side as a supporter of the Yellow Turbans.
You win when the followers of the Yellow Turban outnumber all other Kingdoms combined.

Zhang Jue (died 184) was the leader of the Yellow Turban rebels during the late Han Dynasty period of Chinese history. He was said to be a follower of Taoism and a sorcerer. His name is sometimes read as Zhang Jiao, since the Chinese character of Zhang's given name can be read as either "Jiao" or "Jue". "Jue" is the traditional reading, while "Jiao" is the modern one.
I who what.

Rika2011-02-18 21:32:57
Yeah, Zhang Jiao is always the boss of the first battle you fight in the DW series. That means there is at least the Yellow Turbans, which means Zhang Liang and Zhang Bao should also be in the game.
The part about Dong Zhuo worries me a bit. Does that mean he's in the game too, as part of another faction?

What the!
Buh. Did she actually give the names of the remaining rebels?
Going by the novel, Dong Zhuo is definitely a rebel. Seeing Casilu's role details later will make it easier for us to determine whether Dong Zhuo is a leader of his own faction.

Ok, thinking a bit here. So, does this mean that there are multiple scum groups, or that the scum don't even know who each other are? Or perhaps this was something else entirely? Maybe someone who is a little more familiar with the theme could make some connections here, because I know next to nothing about it and I'm not sure exactly how surprised I should be about bad guys killing bad guys. Halp? I've been in pretty much a perpetual state of confusion since this game started.
