You will be sad. Very sad. Just converting from Illuminati to Pyromancers burned all my credits that I was saving up for artifacts.

Honestly, if you feel like you ever might go SS again, I'd just put your skills in dormancy and start fresh with new lessons/credits. You only -really- need to put lessons in kata to be useful in a fight. You get harmony regen at like adept skill level or so, and transing harmony does not increase the rate of regen, only how you do your chants.
With psymet, it's a matter of preference for what you want to do how quickly.

So with me wanting to go to a monk guild, this naturally means Shofangi, and herein lies my issue: I like Serenwilde, and don't really want to be migrating elsewhere. However, for Primaries, I find myself not overly excited with the Shofangi primary-spec RPly and prefer the thematic flavour of Ninjakari combat/weaponry (but again, don't want to be moving permanently away from the Wilde until Ackle returns one day). In terms of Secondaries, it's fairly equal given that Harmony seems to be better in bashing/combat with the regen and the passive effects, but I also find myself drawn to the utility usefulness of Stealth's Veil/Awareness/Deepcover/Waylay. My preferred Tertiary is Psychometabolism, and I will unlikely be able to rune myself up to any real extent. Alas, if we could only pick and match skillsets! (I'm assuming power needed for Psymet and Harmony/Stealth are (Any) type, please correct if I'm wrong )
Awareness will run your mana/willpower dry. Waylay has some limits but its nice and deepcover was made mostly useless now it can just pass guards and statues.

I'm planning to take Highmagic for GreaterPentagram support so I can be helpful in groups, so will need to switch tradeskills from Herbs to something else - is there anything better than Tailoring(splendours) trade-wise?
I did consider the other monk guilds, but they're much, much more power-reliant, so moving back to Seren probably isn't an option. Comments to the contrary would be helpful too, so feel free to disagree! :3

Trades are entirely optional, I have 3 trans so far, but splendours is generally a good choice. And all the monk guilds really use power to the same extent, they generally have a lunge mod and maybe an insta. Although Shofangi dont have a power insta.

My questions essentially come down to this:
1. Is it worth the trouble and possible subsequent fallout(if any) by moving to Mag/Ninjakari for a few IG years to learn skills and some of their culture (I've been curious!), then taking it and moving back to Serenwilde with the skillsets albeit without the correct Nexus Power (I'd be productive during my time there of course, so it's not just a skillgrab-and-run, but I assume I'd be enemied to their guild for doing this?) -
2. Would I be better off just being a Shofangi if I want to be a monk in Serenwilde, since I would still have access to Moonhart Nexus Power, and just give up on playing with my preferred skillset?
3. Which non-Shofangi monk guild is the least power reliant, and keeping all the above in mind, which monk guild overall would be the most tae'dae-friendly (esp. after all these recent changes to monks)?
4. If I leave and return, am I able to redo the orgbix quest chain to get one again? (I'm guessing it poofs when you leave the org)
5. Is my train of thought here a stupid idea? .__.;

1) You will be enemied to the guild and the city both actually, and likely hunted at the same time (ally status doesnt protect you from that). As you are violating a guild law by maintaining the skills.
2) No answer for you, this you really have to decide yourself.
3) Power is all about the same for the guilds. Tae'dae though... Worst: Ninjakari. Its a guild based on grapples, a tae'dae will never get the grapple enders off especially without runes, right now you need aslaran with weapon runes to make use of this. Best for tae'dae: Umm.. Tahtetso needs speed for its insta so its not that..
4) You do lose it when you leave org, and you can get a second one now. (Didnt used to, but thats been changed).
5) Doesnt seem stupid.

Deepcover is far far far from mostly useless, it's an awesome amazing skill, bypassing guards and statues is fantastic. Stealth is one of the coolest skillsets in the game hands down

Melders are always needed, even if only for the ability to deny the opposing side a meld.

Deepcover working against org effects was what made the skillset though. Especially now with the changes to distort, you can walk through the statues and guards to be caught without an escape route. It doesn't stop pits, so you can be pitted at any entrances. It works for buying things in villages.
Waylay and eavesdrop are the other two useful skills. That's about it. Blowgun skills are a joke. Veil is okay, but it doesn't remove you from WHO, so....

I would still take harmony which has some deliciously obscene abilities (insta prism or insta tumble anyone?) on top of unmatchably high regenerations. Hands down, I would trade stealth for harmony.

My first character I made on Lusternia was an Aquamancer dreamweaver. I still love the concept of that character, but unfortunately, I don't really like the concept of Celest, so...

How very typical, downplaying on super awesome skills
Then you seriously misunderstand how awesome just what it does, oh no, you can't unstoppably steal miners now due to the changes in distort, you can still bypass guards which is incredibly incredibly incredibly useful, when I was a stealth monk with veil, I was able to get out of rockholm stealing miners via pits/guards/pathtwists/whatever you want to insert here.
veil is also incredibly amazing as well, who cares if you show up on who, they still don't know what room you're in, and buy a gem and poof problem solved, the most important aspect of veil is the fact that it removes you from scent. It's another amazing skill that actually received an upgrade with the endgame changes (how many people have seek now?).
The stopping org effects, especially distort has nothing to do with how awesome deepcover is, oh no, you found out that the admin were going to continue with the current path about making villages impenetrable fortresses if defended right, that doesn't make deepcover a 'meh' skill.
Stealth is awesome, no doubt about it, stop downplaying it.

Although you definitely quit playing a monk before the distort changes, so you didn't have to worry about getting out. Bix, rift, whatever. WHO will tell room name with thirdeye. It's great in non-unique rooms, however. Deepcover is good for village shopping only.
That said, stealth was awesome. Mal's always complained about it.

veil stops thirdeye, you're on who but with no roomname
I always escaped through the gate, no rift, no bix(indoors anyway), just chaining together commands to get out

Veil definitely doesn't stop thirdeye, unless they ninja changed it.
Raeri2011-03-22 10:17:51
Veil definately does stop thirdeye, unless Nekotai get something special to take themselves off thirdeye on WHO that Ninjakari don't - or it got removed in the last year or so. Maybe the caster doesn't see the room name vanish?
Unknown2011-03-22 13:13:34
Oops. You guys are right. I was thinking that it still shows you on WHO and also gives you the room name. It removes me from WHO completely, so when people told me they still saw me on WHO, I just assumed.
