To fully flesh out my tweet, I hate those early morning flares/revolts/raids/etc, because I like a fair fight(gasp). A fight in which any org just takes it isn't fair in my mind. My example of a fair fight: the shanthmark-paavik revolts. Seren had numbers to field, Mag had numbers to field, Glom had numbers to field, Celest had numbers to field. 2v2. Both sides fighting had the opportunity to take hold of the village. Fair fight imo for all those involved.
My unfair example:
Last night, small encounter with Mag in the Inner Sea. Usually it becomes this big thing with deaths on both sides, etc. But last night we didn't have the people to field, so it wasn't much of a fight.
Another would have to be any raid on Gaudi until CeleGlom decide to come clean up. They have nowhere near the numbers of active combatants to field, especially with what is usually brought against them: usually 2+ Geos, Malarious, and any other person in Mag who wants to grief someone.
Really I consider any raid in which there's honestly no one to defend annoying and cowardice. Any raid I go on, it's either looking for a fight, or to pull people away from a Domoth to lessen the numbers against Glom.
There's more examples I could use, even ones in which CeleGlom lose(gasp).
Excuse any unclear points, grammatical errors, writing this on my iPod due to computer problems.

Better lock this before it devolves into a flame war!

The topic title could be: "Stating the Obvious: People like raiding to pwn, not actually fight".
P.S. Might as well get my jab in - note that they raided Gaudi and not Celest/Glom. Hmm!

Neos, this happens on both sides. Period.
And pulling people away from a domoth is definitely in the same boat as above.

I know it does, not saying it doesn't. Main reason I made this thread was so the rest of my tweet didn get deleted. But in my opinion and point of view, it happens moreso on the other side. Some might say it happens more from our side, and that's their opinion and point of view. Just stating my thoughts.

I rarely raid, and I typically only raid Glom...those end up suicide raids most of the time...
As for fair fights...I need to wonder about this 'fair fights'. Passive separation and carcer in Aquamelds+choke+squall...kind of takes fair off the hook, at least group combat wise. And Celedoring usually isn't a good sport about accepting a loss. If they start losing, they'll up the ante try to boost up their side to have twice the numbers.
And I support Shuyin's statement of people liking to pwn, not fight...thus Serenwilde usually being pwn'd as opposed to Magnagora on both Celest and Glomdoring counts. Since like a long time before I started playing my character apparently.
Does this happen on the other side? Probably. Griefers exist in all organizations, they aren't particularly localized.
Me? I don't jump folk, and I let people know if they forget their beasts. So stop killing my absolutely gorgeous chimaera, you jealous smucks

To be fair, I raid SW just because I'm most familiar with its layout and the skills of the people involved. Krellan's been trying to step up on the Mag raiding for the past few days and we started hitting Halli territory more often as well though, so who knows. On top of that, there always being a guaranteed exit in Etherwilde as opposed to one distort and need a ship to get out of Elemental/Cosmic makes it easier to escape Ethereal more than those planes. A lot of the reasoning is actually really practical, tbh.
Though I admit, it warms my griefer heart to get ragetells that fuel the fire.
And unlike Gaudi, Seren actually has defenders and fighters, at the very least, at least 500% more than Gaudi anyway. Slight exaggeration.
Now if we're going to rant about group separation, insert tired blurb about chainyank here.

It would be nice if the admins could add some mechanic along the lines of "do you want to participate in this fight? if yes, you will be flagged for pk, if no you will be graced so that you may watch" and when the numbers are exactly even the fight would begin. They could also add something like a skill check in the beginning, so one side isn't just swamped with noobs.
I think we all know that any fight your org wins was a fair fight by default

Yes, they should make it so you can only raid/enter enemy territory when x number of defenders can AGREE to it, otherwise nothing happens.
A RAID has just been initialised in Ethereal Serenwilde.
- JOIN RAID SERENWILDE to participate.
- HELP RAIDING to read about what it is.
- Fee: 2000000 xp if demigod.
- Levels 10 to 101.

I can't meld in EtherWilde or Faethorn, which is where I've seen most of the past few fights, except the revolt. And it's impossible for us to get twice your numbers. We have less people to rely on. And I don't mean fair in terms of what skills are brought to the fight, since certain skills are so horribly OP/broken/monks if you base it on skills brought to the table no fight would be fair. I mean in terms of how many people are brought to the fight, thus if everyone knows what they're doing, equal opportunity for everyone to win if they think smart. And that passive separation can hurt as much as help, same with squall, choke too if everyone is grouped up.

It happens on all sides, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you don't have a chance, sometimes you don't give an inch.
Back in the day glom was the wipping boy of the basin and would have made gaudi seem like a powerhouse. But they rather impressively bounced back and are arguably the most dominant force in the game.
It's the ebb and flow of the land and complaints are like crack to griefers.
As for gaudi, they have given mag plenty of reason to grief them and if their new allies can't protect them, then they have to live with their poor decisions /forumrp

The aetherflares were just a little shake up. Honestly, its better for the game when politics/aetherpolitics isn't a one-sided mess. It's not particularly endearing to say "Come play Lusternia. needs people to punch in the face and gloat over."
Grats to Seren and Mag for landing a pair of spheres.
Overall, honestly? The last few fights I've seen have been the most fair in quite a while. Kills on both side, ultimate outcome uncertain. Seren/Mag even drove glom out of faethorn a few nights ago for the first time I've seen in a very long time- and because it wasn't just "lets summon serens into a deathtrap", I was actually compelled to go up and fight and get enemied and such.
Volitility may not be good for real life, but it is very good for a game like this. Imagine if you were asked to play chess, and the other person says, "Ok, you can play, but you get three pawns, a rook, and a bishop. I've been winning so long that most of my pawns are now queens. OH WOW THIS IS FUN."
If the game were always in that phase of randomness, with villages and bubbles changing hands, and the outcome of raids not always pre-determined to end in choke/chasm spam, we'd be a much more appealing game.
There are still some horrific skills in the game, but that's a forgivable sin, when the outcome winds up being balanced.

We just like getting the chance to kill you guys.
I don't mind losing, as long as I'm given the chance to win. Same with winning, in the wildnodes that Celest won, I found it horribly boring and unsatisfying because there wasn't much of a fight. I'd rather fight for a win then just taking it.

How you handle getting your face melted is up to you but if it really gets you down then you need to log off when your friends aren't around or you aren't going to enjoy playing lusternia.
Also, complaining is like crack to griefers......
