I went console, just because I know if I get it on the PC, I'll get utterly distracted by Mods. (Ooh, there's a mod that adds the option to play as an Arcane Horror...?)

Argh I almost want to go back and play my DAO so I can finish up achievs. and whatnot but I need to focus on ME1! Get my no romance playthrough done so I can have one of those, plus a no cheating ME2 romance and stuff....for ME3. >.<

My gender bending mods are not working
Did two of the main quests and about to start the third. Think I'm making pretty good progress! Fight with Flameth the dragon was super fun.

Pfft. When I first started playing DAO, you know what I wanted to play again?
KOTOR.

All right, I'm doing the Orzammar main quest and I'm at the last puzzle and it is just so darn HARD. I'm like 'wtf why is this so difficult???' Thinking I'm on normal mode, I go to my settings to change them to easy. Go there and figures... I've been playing on Nightmare for the past few days. *facepalm* But I also feel pretty badass since I took down a high dragon and the entire Orzammar section on nightmare difficulty.
wtf @ Broodmother.

lol that happens to me sometimes in Mass Effect. I'll change it to a higher setting for a specific mission, and then totally forget to change it back. When I do realize I'm like...so that's why its been so freaking hard! But nice job on taking down the high dragon on nightmare. Now go do Golems on Amgarrak on nightmare.... ; that fight is soooo annoying as a warrior since you have no true healer in that DLC.

Yay finally some people discussing DAO DA2 (and do I hear a ME1 and ME2? :3).
It does eat up your life, and wish you truly lived in a world crawling with darkspawn or reapers, than face the horrifying realities of a trigonometric exam...
I haven't obtained a copy of DA2 yet (judging from popular advice, I'll wait when the price goes waay lower).
I simply love how "alive" all these characters are, and I can't help falling in love with certain characters! Alistair, Morrigan, Anders and Justice heck even Oghren and Sigrun have their moments (sorry but I really can't dig dwarves)!
And am I the only one who adores mages...
And yes ME3, I am already itching for it... stocked on multiple saved files just to check how it's all going to end up when the game is out!

The High Dragon fight was hilariously easy. You know that little castle down on the side? Just run down there, hide behind a wall, winter's grasp, then run around to the other side. Dragon never gets LOS or melee range.

Good to know for next time
does Alistair give a different eulogy depending on if your PC was in a romance with him or not? Almost done my first run and wondering about that (I... kind of read ahead about some of the different possible outcomes)

It's not possible to get an ending where you're romancing Alistair and also sacrifice yourself, 'cause the scruff-bearded chump runs off ahead to kill the Archdemon before you. (This was apparently a bone of contention for some people.)

Don't take him with you, he wont be able to sacrifice himself.

Nah, I never actually did it myself to verify, I just read that on TV Tropes.

Finished my first playthrough!!! Epic fun. The Archdemon was easier than I thought it'd be (actually had to kill it 3 times, since the game decided to crash when its lifebar got to 10% twice )
I hoped the ending would be more cinematic, but it was nice and sweet. It didn't really say what everyone did afterwards though? (except they went their separate ways) My first playthrough was mostly with Alistair, Morrigan, Wynne, and my rogue noble dwarf, and I went through with the ritual and made Anora queen. Feel like going back to see all the different endings, especially the sacrifice one... or maybe I should save them for another run. Well, going to use mods this time so it'll look and feel like a whole new world again
EDIT: Is this real!?!? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UedBIUju9hw
It just looks so... horrible.

Did you do an Ultimate Sacrifice Ending? If you did, the ending is less satisfying than the other endings, at least in terms of saying some final goodbyes.
As far as Alistair goes, that only happens if you replace him with a certain somebody in the party. Otherwise, there's a much happier encounter in DA2.

Best ending IMO doesn't actually have you romance Alistair. Warden-Commander just seems much more...in line with your character then Queen.
Diamondais2011-04-26 07:45:35
That really depends on how you play the character, the only characters that can marry and become King/Queen are the Human Nobles and it is entirely possible that that sort of marriage could have come from arrangements between the nobility. With just about everyone trying to grab power after the King died, what's one more.

Keep in mind, I was specifically responding to that video Shou posted with encountering Alistar as a broken drunkard in Kirkwall, which can only happen if at the Landsmeet, you spare Logain and make him a Grey Warden, causing Alistar to abandon the party and (in most but not all permutations) abandon any claims to the throne. (Logain replaces Alistar as a party member in this case).
I also wanted him to make sure that he knew if he did an Ultimate Sacrifice ending, you have a funeral sequence, but there's no interactivity. Any other game ends at a ceremony which allows you to have a final conversation with almost all the party members as well as a few of your major allies, which might make somebody who ends up playing that sequence as the first choice feel the game's ending is a little short.

Well my first playthrough I had everyone alive and happy at the end. I would like to see the funeral scenes (outside of Youtube ) but at the same time I don't wanna cheat by loading an older save and getting right to the final battle! First game took 60 hours (probably more since I did a lot of saving and going back), I'm thinking next should be significantly less, half or less of that.
Anyways, doesn't anyone find it odd that your weapons -float- behind your characters' backs? When I played the demo for DA2 I noticed this and thought it was some strange bug, but now I realize that it's the same for everyone O_o
I also wonder what would happen if I made a really old, deformed PC and went around talking to people. Your companions and NPCs are always commenting how handsome/pretty you are... would be hilarious if I created a troll and they still said that :>
edit:
modded Leliana... brawl aftermath. I thought this was amusing.

If it works in Mass Effect, I'm sure it will fly in DA. I think it would be a lot easier to make an ugly warden than an ugly shep. especially since there are more options in DA, I feel.
