Because the tattoo design APPEARANCE itself requires the noun 'tattoo'...

That was removed yesterday. There's no reason for a noun on something that never needs to be targeted.

Not according to the Trademasters post (403).
Shulamit2011-04-18 17:27:19
! And more designs appear in my brain that flow better because of that news! Whee! Love you, Estarra.

Tattoos and naked fighting eh?

What about your intimate parts? I don't see any tattoo option there.

Oh! That's wonderful then, since like Kalaneya mentioned, the guidelines posted by the Charites required TATTOO to be the main noun in all designs.

Well, you know... the variable weight range for the male anatomy is just too difficult to code.

Let's just say that falls under 'waist' and leave it at that.
Shulamit2011-04-18 17:47:38
Oh yes. Since people keep telling me I should do this, even if I don't agree. Tramp stamps. Are they back, with a low weight, or does waist cover a full circle around the person, and so, should waist be used? It would still likely be a small ish weight.

Yay for the quick update to tattoo design guidelines! cheer.gif

Soooo. Blue ink with just a hint of silver. 5 weight. Is bluetint 5 faeleaf 1 acceptable for this? The ink itself is a blue with just a small tinge of silver to it.

You'd need bluetint 4 faeleaf 1 goldtint 1 according to the commodity guidelines. Silver is always 1 faeleaf and 1 goldtint.
Kalaneya2011-04-18 18:05:33
Silver ink = goldtint + faeleaf in equal ratios
Black ink = purpletint + coal in equal ratios

A hint of silver is probably just going to be 1 goldtint + 1 faeleaf.

So even if it's not just plain silver ink, and just a vaguely silver blue, I still need the goldtint part? That was why I was asking. It seems weird to require that part if the silver isn't standing alone in the design...

I don't know. I can see it getting rejected over the distinction, but who knows!

Org Tattoo Design:
  • Guilds commission tattoos with bodypart, weight and power.
  • Powers chosen from normal tattoo powers.
  • Guild leaders can ink them (but not remove them).
  • If you leave a guild, the guild tattoo(s) fade.
  • Guild tattoos should be considered optional.
  • Possibly we would have had a guild rank bonus for the first guild tattoo received.

Overall I prefer the above design to trying to come up with separate individual power(s). However, if we are looking to include an additional benefit in addition to the above, I'm thinking it should be something that that would not rely on which guild you are in but benefit members.

As an idea, a few pages back someone suggested an xp bonus for those in the same squad while bashing. We could go even further and and say guild tattoos would give an xp bonus based on the cumulative weight of the guild tattoos (.001% per weight up to a max of 1%). Thus, guilds could have a series of tattoos of different weights that total 100 weight for the max bonus (or one big tattoo if they want). If you have the full (1%) bonus, you will get that bonus any time you bash, in or out of a squad. However, if you are in a squad with others with tattoos from your guild, the bonus would be cumulative (up to 5%, i.e., maxes out with 5 members with the full 1%). Again, this bonus would be in addition to normal tattoo powers.

So this idea (or similar ideas along this line) would be a tweak I'd consider.

Also, I'm failing to really understand the arguments that monks would not want org tattoos if it uses this weight. I simply cannot believe that a monk guild wouldn't be able to agree on one power that most everyone in the guild would want. What monk wouldn't want 100 weight in blunting or cutting damage bonus? Why not design tattoos around that and pick a body area that fits in with your guild (arms/legs, chest, back, something). Yes, you have to work your other tattoos around those guild tattoos if you want those guild tattoos but so what? You don't have to have guild tattoos. Further, once the tattoos in the guild are instituted, it won't be like it's a surprise or even that hard to adjust tattoos once you have them.

Estarra, I hope you realize this only makes me yearn for HalliMonks even more. :<

^This. Does not sound too bad. I have no objections to something like this and would even build around it.

Sorta weird question. Are tattoos customizable? Like, can you put down 50cr to get a tattoo that is snazzier, like how you can get snazzier than you'd be allowed items with customization? chin.gif Glowing tattoos (which wouldn't work as it is right now) came up in conversation, which led me to wonder.

Sorry, no, that's not possible at this time.
