Expanding your godrealm isn't just a matter of essence and building a few rooms. There's very strict rules for them and being mad at your patron for not having a (big) godrealm is like being upset at switzerland for being smaller than France.

But switzerland has chocolate. Switzerland wins always.

In regards to the actual suggestion made to create Org Shrines, I am all for it. Secularising allows organizations to defend themselves, even with no active order within the city, or an order whose patron places restrictions upon how his shrines are used. It also allows gods to place those roleplay restrictions upon their order without being overly resented for it. Barring the removal of war-shrines, this seems a good idea to me.

I agree with Kiradawea and am utterly baffled as to how this thread got derailed into a dicussion of whether Eventru or Fain has the largest/bestest/most delicious godrealm.

Organizational shrines will not make Eventru's godrealm shrivel up and wilt. Or Fain's for that matter. Nor will they make orders less important, except as a secular tool for defending planes. If anything, it will make orders more important as a religious organization, as they can then allocate powers and enemy people based soley on divine mandate/order RP, rather than compromizing that to satisfy their nation of origin.

Well, Switzerland, it looks like you had better get to work. We need to catch up to France.

I wouldn't mind if shrines got redone somehow. I don't know if other Orders have this issue, but I get a little bit frustrated that Elostian's Order (as an organization) generally isn't looking to get involved in conflict since we aren't really a combat focused organization. But if we don't compromise, then we leave Hallifax at a disadvantage for not having the area affects of a war shrine. I doubt anything is going to happen, since the policy seems pretty clear that Orders are expected to be another part of the city and act as the stewards of the shrine war.

I dislike warshrines with a passion. Seeing them removed completely wouldn't bother me.

Perhaps give security members within a city an artifact that can raise a "shrine" in a loyal territory? Gravity, shrine distort, and wrath.

Or maybe, remove warshrines and add their effects to the seemingly-useless warrior and monk discretionaries.

My discretionary is useful!

On Prime.

And Monks have a discretionary?
Esano2011-05-05 14:53:43
Monk discretionary makes guards attack faster.

That statement there tells how useful that is as a discretionary.
Everiine2011-05-06 14:16:29
Yay for warriors and monks have discretionaries that are absolutely useless in places that actually get raided. Unless you are Gaudiguch, in which case, only one of them is available anyway.

Incidentally, this is exactly why making distort and gravity into guild discretionaries is not OK until Gaudi and Hallifax get monks. Otherwise it would be my first suggestion.
