I was kind of in a slump earlier, but this has cheered me right up. Good going, admins!

For the family race thing, is that a passive gain over time like holding elected positions, or does it boost the honour gain that the selected race members earn individually, or does it boost the entire family honour gain based some some percent (and if so, how much is the boost)?

Like elected seats.

Cool. Thanks, Eventru!
EDIT: Also, how often is that passive bonus for elected seats/races applied? Every weave? Every year?

Weave! Same as races. It's 50 points per member of the given race (may change), and 50 points per seat.

I won't get my hopes up, but has any more thought been given to establishing existing major families in the histories as themselves?

It's not something we go out of our way to do. When discussing an area, event or storyline, it may be something we do, on a rare occasion.
For example we said "Ah, a merian household stricken from the records would be good keepers of the Repository" and then Estarra chimed in, "What about La'Saet? They're an old, loyal family," and so we went with that (and it remains the only instance to date).
Will we see more? I imagine so. Rare and few and very far between, though.

Totally awesome.
My only wish is that houses could recognize two races rather than one, but I understand how that can lead to a slippery scope.
m'Viraz might become an actual family!

Alright, fair enough, thought it was worth a shot.

Baw baw baw another mechanic I can't use. I'm just kidding, looks good.

At first glance I have to say I'm very pleased and impressed with this system. Thanks for the hard work and creativity, for making house type a gold cost rather than honour ravaging, and hopefully race switches too!
Edit: ouch.. The Disgraced House of Starleaf -10000 honour (Disgraced)

By the way, historical families (and maybe Great Houses) should totally get their own help files, or maybe just some text to go at the top/bottom of the family tree. Something to explain its relevance and discuss its history.

Top, between race and active family members would look nice.

Well, I guess I wont be moving my character at all anymore, but on the flip side, maaaan. Couldn't you have waited two weeks? I am going to positively die over here without a connection.
Shiri2011-05-03 09:02:29
Huh, apparently the threshold for getting a family member on the council didn't change at all when all this inflation kicked in, I was expecting a "you can't do that until you have X honour" message. AWKWARD.
Rika2011-05-03 09:03:20
I actually think the numbers need to be toned down heaps. Just need to check POLITICS FAMILIES to see why, after only one month rollover.

2011/05/03 08:55:01 - The House's eyes are raised as its honour improves: our family is known for their good breeding.
What is this for?
As for numbers, Eventru said earlier that the scale has been expanded tenfold, so before the cap for honour was 5k, and it's now 50k... hence larger numbers.
Could the amount of power added be noted in the log entries?
Shiri2011-05-03 09:07:57
Just so this is clear, I had no problem with the threshold for a council member being lowered in principle, because the fact only one family was close to getting it and they were only halfway there was highly silly if the feature was gonna be there at all, but at this rate it looks like it'd take about 4 days even without the acceleration features being set up. Maybe add a 0 on the end.
