I'll confirm... later. I'm in favour of downtown/union, though.

I think we should gather at Union and maybe all head to a restaurant of some sorts to grab somethin' to eat, chat and get to know each other. Then, BAR HOPPING?!

Totally open for suggestions. :3

I like this. A lot.

But Science Centre sounds neat, too. Also haven't been there in years.
Shiawase2011-06-18 07:30:17
Union I really think would be best in terms of GATHERING. We can go wherever from there, but since I assume most of us will be taking trains and go buses and other such things...Union would make sense, yeah?

The Science Center sounds fun, indeed. I'd actually be up for that.

Also, how would the lot of us get around? Public transport? I don't know the city bus routes there. I visit often, but we're usually driving.

Shiawase2011-06-18 07:30:20
Double post, bleh.
Diamondais2011-06-18 13:56:00
Can do public transport, I'm not the most familiar with the downtown routes, but generally if you ask the drivers, they can point you in the right direction.

I can take us around, I've been taking the TTC to and from Downtown for the past several years... looks like a lot of people are in favour of the Science Centre. It's going to be a 45-60 minute trip from Union, and there are no bars or interesting hang out spots around the Centre so we'd probably have to commute back to downtown once we've had our fun (unless everyone's up for checking out Greektown!)

Well, if we're meeting early like at 12? Maybe we can do Science Center first and then head back to Union and eat/bar hop....I don't know about bar hopping for myself and Dinoniel though...we don't drink >.>....also, isn't that something you do in the evening? So I guess we could do both. We could go anywhere...day passes are like $10 and on weekends are good for 2 people so it's like $5 per person
Diamondais2011-06-19 11:21:06
Ah well, I'm sure one of the pubs downtown would be open early-ish. Serving drinks is a whole different question, but I'm guessing they're open. Bars would be a no-go since they tend to be too late, not that I'll really drink (or really like much of what they have :/). Canada Day is probably going to kill me drinking wise for a bit.
Lyora2011-06-23 02:11:21
I think this is going to the official plan.

We're going to go to the Science Center first then meet for dinner and then go bar hopping. I think this is the only way to satisfy everyone. For those who don't want to go to Science Center, you can meet us for dinner, same if bar hopping doesn't appeal to you. It'll be Science Center rather than other places mentioned since I received most interest for it. A few people mentioned they don't drink or feel they will have their drinking needs satisfied the previous weekend for Canada's Day. And it will most likely be Saturday, July 9th. If you have strong objections to this plan, please post.

So, this is the breakdown in terms of costs.

TTC - $10 Day pass which is good for 2 adults (http://www3.ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/Passes/Day_Pass/index.jsp) so $5/per person

Science Center - Hours: 10 am to 5 pm
Price: Students - $16 for admission to Science Center, $22 for admission and IMAX
Adults - $20 for admission to Science Center, $28 for admission and IMAX

The only thing not confirmed is the time to meet at Science Center. I am thinking 11 am or 12 pm? Please post!

People attending: Synl, Dylara, Dinoniel, Quorre, Rancoura, Shiawase, Wuylinfe, and myself...(Xenthos will be there with us in spirit!...unless someone manages to convince him...and Cauthorn smells for having to work!)
Rancoura2011-06-24 01:25:21
I'll likely meet with you all for dinner. Someone will just need to give me their cell number so I can keep in touch and find out exactly where and when to meet the group downtown (at Union?). I'm all for Toronto cuisine and a good bar or two!
Xiel2011-06-24 21:54:37
I demand a picture of our Canadian populace with a moose wearing a Lusty t-shirt. Fake moose or otherwise. biggrin.gif

Great plan, thanks for this Wendy! We're gonna have to get used to calling each other by our real name's haha.

If you're all OK with it, can you PM me your email addresses? Then we can go about exchanging numbers or contacts (and names) off of the Lusternia forums and whatnot... probably don't want to post your personal info here.
Rancoura2011-06-26 15:30:11
Have Lyora's number. I'll introduce myself at the meet.
Shiawase2011-06-29 17:41:06
Sounds awesome. Noon seems reasonable. I work till midnight on Friday and I don't want to have to get up at 8 to hop a train and get there by 11. tongue.gif

Ardmore2011-06-29 17:46:21
Aw, I should have started "playing" earlier so I'd have known about this. I'm only 2 hours away.

Hope you guys have fun.
Lyora2011-06-29 18:00:57
Ardy!!! You should still come! *gnaw*

This thread's been kind of quiet and the meet is on Saturday. I only got one person's contact info so I assume everyone else will be reading the forums. Let's say meet at Science Centre at 12? Not sure if we'll need to stay there until it closes either. Does everyone know how to get there on their own?

That should be the plan, for those of us going to it (I'm definitely going to the science centre, but maybe not the after stuff).
