^ this. The difference between 55 robes and 75 robes (or 76 monk armour, and I've seen 80+ cutting splendors) is phenomenal, honestly an intricacy no one except warriors could really bear witness to. I'm betting I can tell someone's robe stat with reasonable accuracy just with a few hits. It's really that noticeable, so much so that I've many a time pondered going BC just to metagame such nonsense.

That's one reason why I want bc buffed. Making that more attractive and widely used would benefit the other specs, since people might be less inclined to specialise their robes for cutting.

I'm not a big warrior person and I've never had a combatant warrior character, but I want more variety in weapon types that actually get used! If equalizing the stats across the board is what it will take to make that happen, I am all for it. I've had a couple warrior alts and I am sick of getting lectured about how I want to use stuff like scimitars and flails because they aren't as good. I don't caaare...I want to use the weapons I think are cool. I also have a crush (heehee crush) on BC and wish more people used it. It's like everything I like about warriors is bad.
Llesvelt2011-05-14 12:17:56
I use a Greatsword.
Because a Greatsword is cool, and I am no combatant.

And this is why we need a two handed hammer spec!!*
Right now we have:
Cutting damage:
Pureblade
Blademaster
50% of Axelord. (Actually, it turns out, 100%! See below)
Blunt damage:
Bonecrusher
50% of Axelord. (Actually, it does no blunt at all! See below)
If polearms ever makes it out, from a logical standpoint, it will PROBABLY be another cutting, or MAYBE another damage type split like Axelord. (That isn't really a split at all.)
But a two handed hammer spec would give us another 100% blunt damage weapon spec, which would, over the long term, help to stablilize the damage/armour type pendulum, rather than have it swing to extremes based on whether Bonecrusher is overpowered at the moment or not.
But yes, slightly more to the point, knights not killing knights well is something I prefer to keep.
*also I just want to swing around a big hammer.

Axelord is 100% cutting. See below proof.
It is a two-handed weapon.
Damage: 136 Precision: 263 Speed: 256
A menacing double-edged klangaxe has no poisons or magical effects on it.
Result: 354 wounds.

Damage: 84 Precision: 263 Speed: 273
A midnight dragon katana has no poisons or magical effects on it.

It offers the following defences:
Physical cutting: 107
Physical blunt: 87

Well, there you are then! Even more proof we need a two handed hammer spec!
(also, where the hell am I remembering AL being a 50/50 split from?)
Ixion2011-05-14 13:24:17
That was a myth since axelords were released. At least now people know the truth.

From everywhere? That one's been floating around (on and off) since AL came out.

Also, please do this. My armour has 10 more blunt than cutting protection, and I would like an excuse to not spend a few days reforging it!

Axes become blunt weapons above 300 precision.

If that was the case, shouldn't it be the reverse from a 'this makes sense' standpoint? :/

Heh. The thing is that I actually could see that being possible with an axe that is not 'sharp' enough doing blunt while a sharper axe would be cutting. It would even make sense for all weapon types, really, to some extent, excepting BC weapons (always blunt).
Or, or, getting even more technical. Depending on a formula between armour status and weapon precision. If your weapon precision cannot overcome the armour it is blunt damage (since it can't cut through), otherwise it is cutting damage! Just what we need, more variability in combat.
Unknown2011-05-14 14:16:51
Ha, but that makes no sense mechanically though. Your cutting armour is so much, that cutting damage becomes blunt so your cutting armour becomes useless?
Unknown2011-05-14 14:17:37
Spiked flails could do cutting damage! (More than 20 bleeding a hit, currently just from the runes, would be nice.)
