So, I'm waiting for someone to return to the realms to finish the adoption process so Kolibri can begin the consideration for a family. Kolibri has also found a boy to marry, and so that leads to some questions!
1) Can you be adopted into a family while you're engaged?
2) Can you be adopted into a family after you're married?
Thanks for answering, and sorry if this has been asked before.

As I recall, if you are currently in the middle of a consideration of parents and then get engaged, the consideration can still carry through and finish. I don't think you can consider parents if you are already engaged when you attempt to do so.
I'm also pretty sure the system doesn't allow you to consider parents if you're already married, but that might be an artifact that's long since vanished from the system with the various changes.

Last time I checked: While in any consideration, you cannot enter another, marriage, adoption, and bloodbonding all count as consideration. Meaning that you will probably not be able to be engaged and start the consideration process with your parents, or vice-versa.
Also, you can't be adopted if you're already in a family, including by marriage, to my knowledge.

You can start being considered as a child, and still get engaged.

What if neither spouse has ever been in a family? Is the only option for getting involved with a family at this point founding one?

Yep, unless there was some change made that they didn't tell us about.

Either that or divorce, have one person be adopted into a family, and then have the second person remarry that person so they also marry into the family. That's only if it is possible to be considered as a child if you've been divorced. Not sure if that is possible.

Assuming this is Morbo and Aithera we are speaking of, you have two options (I'm pretty sure):
1) Found a family.
2) Get divorced, have one of you be adopted into a family, get re-married.
Assuming #2 works, I'm wondering the viability of allowing adopting of someone who is married (if neither them nor their spouse have a family). Just to cut out the middle man.
Donno. Really not sure. It doesn't seem easy/doable, though, off the back of my hand.

I was thinking primarily of my character's situation, yes. Thanks for the answers. It would be kind of nice if joining another family was still an option, although another historic hallifaxian family could be fun. If a bit daunting.

It'd be cool to have more historical Hallifaxian families I would check in about the requirements to have one before you start planning one, so you can build around what's required than finding out when you hit 15 members that you need to make changes. I know with Shevat it wasn't like "Okay, here's ten (the old requirement) of us and we're related to the other Shevat's this way!" boom historical. It was pretty involved.
