Flares

myeah, I was just thinking maybe the more bubbles currently synched with your org the longer it would take to synch an additional bubble. In terms of bombards the current amount might serve as a base, while each bubble after that could require additional rounds.

Like... once you have say two bubbles you might be looking at it taking twice as long for you to cap a bubble, this way if you are "winning" the difficulty rises, there is no hard coded restriction preventing you from getting all of the bubbles but you might need to work a bit more for it. And yes, I can already see at least one way for it to be gamed but that comes with its own risks.

The only real problem I have with flares is how much bombards stack, and how much better they are than colossi: five uncontested bombards wins a bubble, and you can have all five going at once; a colossus is significantly slower than a bombard: unattended, it cut one bombard off over twenty minutes, ie it took 4 bombards = 20 minutes rather than 5 bombards = 30 (two ships bombarding). A marginally attended colossus (3 people? Not sure) on Bottledowns achieved the same.

And in the Cankermore flare before last, Magnagora swept in when Glomdoring was at 1 bombard from winning, and took the bubble in two rounds without touching Glom's colossus (our bombards lowered their score but didn't increase ours as much: it appears that your score is at least partially affected by your opponents').

So, yeah, I think either bombard stacking should be addressed or colossi buffed. Not to say that they should be as good or better than ships, but controlling the ground should at least provide something.

Magnagora only landed 2 bombards after we got to the bubble, total. There were a lot more firing but you all kept stopping and restarting them, so that didn't help much. At the same time we had a Colossus on the ground that you were all just staring at for no reason (and Serenwilde's was bugged and would not die. Grrrr!)

Edit: Oh, I see, you're not talking about the most recent one.

It does seem kind of strange that Colossi have such a limited impact, I have to agree. But please make sure that I can kill them. sad.gif

It has been decided...Stargaze's new function should be to give a ballpark estimate to aetherflares, please. Like within a month or two range.

They already happen in a very set cycle, with a deviation of maybe 2 rl days. A way to see them IG wouldn't really add anything, though I guess it might be convenient.
