So! We need a movie thread, just because I'm interested in seeing what everyone else has been watching.

Some of my favourite movies:
The Terminator (series, minus the brief TV show)
Artificial Intelligence
Shooter
Push
Shirley Valentine
Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail
Final Fantasty VII: Advent Children

Watching Apocalypse Now as a class thing and how it reflects the book Heart of Darkness. I think I love this movie already.

I always meant to watch Fahrenheit 9/11 but have never gotten around to it.

Thanks for sharing good things.

Hmm, i can't really decide on my 'favorite'. Too many to list. Here are some

Terminator series(although i still haven't seen T3, but 1,2, and 4 all rocked).
Die Hard series.
Back to the Future trilogy
Gone in 60 Seconds
Pirates of the Caribbean series
Many many more.

Some movies i viewed recently that I liked:
Book of Eli
Unstoppable
Fast Five(redeemed the series, no more rice burners with stickers)
Blindside

I was slightly disappointed by Transformers 2.
Caffrey2011-06-02 17:34:51
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Dark Star
Let The Right One In
Natural Born Killers
Pulp Fiction
Alien Quadrilogy (-no.3)
The Mummy Returns
Beautiful Thing
300
Oliver!
Teufels Kicker
Monsters, Inc.

I liked Clockwork Orange a lot until I read the book, which is far superior, but I would still rate it highly.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned star trek/wars yet.

Which reminds me, Stargate tv/movies are awesome.

Also, Dr. Who...

As for movies:
Serenity
Shawshank redemption
Dark Knight
Howls moving castle.

City of Lost Children (surrealistic magnificence)
Amelie (the happiest film of all time)

Clerks (anyone who's had a crappy job can identify with this film)
Unknown2011-06-02 19:22:38
One of the best movies I've watched recently is The Host. It's streamable on Netflix. Really great monster movie.

Other favorites are:

Terminator series (I love all 4 of them)
Predator
Predators (new one with Adrian Brody...surprisingly good)
Conan the Barbarian (excited for the remake)

No Country For Old Men
Doubt

Two of the more recent ones that I found very impressive.

No Country For Old Men was a pretty great movie.

The Matrix (first one)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Princess Bride
Hellboy
Serenity
300
Unknown2011-06-02 22:59:40
The Legend of 1900 (Seriously... awesome movie.)
The Princess Bride
Monty Python's The Life of Brian (and Holy Grail, and Meaning of Life... pretty much anything by Monty Python)
Reefer Madness: The Musical (brilliant piece of seditious writing)
Lil' Pimp
Boondock Saints (1 and 2... but for different reasons)

For TV shows:

Dr. Who (all of it... old and new)
Big Bang Theory
House
Phineas and Ferb (I have a six year old, but turns out the show's a lot of fun)

yeah, I don't watch much tv I guess.

I was somehow reminded of The Kite Runner. I really liked that movie, never got around to reading the book.
Daraius2011-06-03 01:41:55
The Fall is probably my all time favorite movie, and the only one I recommend to everyone.
Sunshine. I don't think anyone else has seen it.
Disney's Robin Hood, the one with all the furries.
Bolt.
I just saw Snatch recently. Not one of my favorites, but I'd recommend it.
Fantastic Mr. Fox, obviously.
I liked Final Fantasy: Spirits Within far more than Advent Children.

As for TV, Community and Archer are my current favorites.
Mythbusters always has a special place in my heart and on my DVR.
Eternal love for Fullmetal Alchemist and FMA: Brotherhood. Still haven't found any anime of that calibre, except Mushi-shi (and that's a polar opposite experience)
Casilu2011-06-03 02:10:03
Movies:
Dr. Strangelove
2001: A Space Odyssey
Reservoir Dogs (Some of his other movies too)
Star Wars
Ghostbusters
Army of Darkness
V for Vendetta
Probably could include Dogma and many other comedies

I also non-ironically enjoy bad movies:
The Last Airbender (and some of his other movies too)
Plan Nine from Outer Space
Mortal Kombat and other such video games to movies

TV Shows:
Star Trek
Dr. Who
Arrested Development
Martian Successor Nadesico (my favorite anime)
Futurama
South Park
... and many more childish cartoons
Dynami2011-06-03 02:39:26
Some of my favorite movies:
The Devil Wears Prada (Meryll Streep was just amazing. She plays one of the bitchiest characters I have ever seen but you just fall in love with her character in the end.)
Curse of the Golden Flower (One of the best foreign films I have seen. The plot is "above average" but the drama of the movie kept me glued to the screen.)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (A classic in terms of foreign Asian films and I really recommend it.)
Pan's Labyrinth (The -best- foreign film I have seen.)
The Last Samurai (Amaaaaaazing plot.)
Breach (This film creates suspense really well.)
Kill Bill series (I really don't think I need to say anything about this movie. If you have not watched the series, you need to...like right now.)
Watchmen (The plot was based on the graphic novel so it was pretty much guaranteed to be an insta-win unless the actors were horrible, which they weren't.)

Yeah, it annoys me to no end that JK Rowling wanted him to do Harry Potter, he wanted to do Harry Potter, and then Warner Bros chose Chris Columbus.

Just finished watching Troll Hunter (Trolljegeren), a Norwegian Witch Blair project-like horror movie. I loved some of the translated one-liners. And. the special effects were well-done!
