Nope, it's not. 500k minimum, 2 million maximum. 5% of your total essence is lost, with the floor / ceiling at those two numbers.

Just remove the 5%, make it 500k flat. Treat everyone equally.

It's actually 50k + 5% with those floor and ceiling caps upon the moment of death.

Extra Phoenix and Reincarnation costs apply afterwards.

You've just been corrected and expounded upon kind gentleman.

Good to know, thanks! What determines the exact cost of phoenix?

1) Do you have Conglutinate?
2) Are you Phoenixing in a location that Conglutinate would have procced?

If yes to both, it's the lower cost. Otherwise it's the higher.

well I was gonna make this huge long post about this stuff but I'd just like to say that most of the problems that were discussed in this thread can be solved by taking in-game action. Yeah it might be nice if Celestia would get raided every once in awhile so we could defend, but truth be told, it's not raided because as soon as someone shows up, ALL optional discretionaries are popped up, which is a huge raid deterrent. We could always not raise them and accept the raid (and I'm sure there could be some reason for it in-character as well).

The admin don't want to play the yo-yo game where they give the player base some slack on opposing planes, only to see players (yet again), not able to show restraint and park their censor.gif es on celestia/nil/wherever for hours, because all that would happen is the admin would end up having to put the steep penalties back. Sorry dudes but this is the way Lusternia is now. Get to bashing or get out.

Also: If you're being griefed by someone of the opposite org to the point of complete frustration, there are actions you can take in-game: talk to the person ICly; talk to the person OOCly (ask them, calmly and nicely, to back off, because they are making the game less fun for you); learn how to fight and survive, and like a million other things you can do that don't involve emailing Estarra and getting the whole Basin whacked up. If you honestly feel harassed by someone then guess what, IRE has this thing called the ISSUE SYSTEM you can use. HELP ISSUES in game.

And just one more thing: the admin are griefing everyone because looking at the credits for sale prices are censor.gif ing insane. And I mean censor.gif ing censor.gif y censor.gif completely insane. We should not be paying 8k for 1 credit. Not everyone has the ability to buy mass amounts of credits with rl money to trans every skill and buy artifacts - and not everyone is a Demigod who can bash/influence high level areas. Please do something about the insane prices. We shouldn't be telling people "get 800k and you can MAYBE buy 100 credits which won't even trans one skill! Rinse and repeat about 5000 times!" Especially for the guardian class (well, Nihis/Celestines), where to start bashing effectively you have to find a way to get enough credits to get your Symbol - you cannot do that with just lessons you earn from leveling and the achievements (believe me, I tried). I had to fall back on the Facebook 10-bound-credits-a-day thing to make it, and that was only because someone led me through the motions, but that well soon dried up. There are lots of people who rely on the in-game credit system - especially new players! I'm embarrassed to tell new players about the credits for sale because I know they will look at that, look at the 7000 gold in their inventory they just spent 3 hours earning, and be like, "yeah. See you never."

There's plenty of gold sinks in Lusternia. Manses, aetherships, clans, cartels, cartel-specific designs, comms for trades, gear for combat, beasts, and... I don't know, a ton of other stuff too. Credits don't need to be added to that list as well.

Just a quick note, but I'm pretty sure players set the price of the credit market... I don't think it's necessarily for the admin to muck with that.
Rika2011-05-30 22:50:03
Any mechanical solution to this problem is going to help the griefers as much as it will to their victims.

It can be influenced by how easy gold is to get in game/ other things gold can be poured into.

With the recent mob change, gold is more plentiful (I'm guessing), so you get higher credit prices.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm not sure what the admin can do about that, except have a "ceiling price", which would likely annoy more people. The only reason unbound credits get sold at all is that somebody buys OOC credits and sells them for whatever price they care to. If prices are high, it might just be because more people are getting them slow (from Elite memberships), or buying and binding them, or fewer people are buying them. The latter is not good because the game can't stay afloat without revenue. I mean, I do my part buy selling 1-2K below price (and I'm starting to only do that for IG friends 'cause I suspect there are more selfish ones who buy and resell), but I have a budget too.

As far as griefing goes--I haven't noticed people assaulting committed non-combatants. (In all my time in Lusternia, I only suspect one person of deliberate griefing--most other stuff was RP based and actually a little fun when encountered) I think the Vitae-to-Nexus idea might work, if it was a different type of potion--maybe a new herb or potion--or maybe a special form of attunement using a nexus or the PoF that you can turn on using gold or some setting. (It should take a resource, but maybe gold, karma, essense, or something similar so that people can't "blockade" the creation of such items). I like the idea of Grace after Vitae myself--but that's more to help my character survive dangerous areas for a bit to survive.

Other IRE games do just fine with a steady market at 5-6k. Aetolia's credits are nearly half the price of ours right now. Credits that sell for less in-game isn't going to do a lot to affect people who buy them; they will buy them OOCly regardless of what the market looks like, especially because of things like dingbats and promos, which you can't get as easily in-game if at all.

That being said, Achaea's admin, a few years ago I believe, stepped in on the credit market when prices were way out of hand (I remember them being around 10k a piece). And supposedly their CFS now is pretty steadily between 5-6k. I can't seem to dig up the post (will take some effort), but largely overall it seemed successful, though I have no idea what action they took, exactly.

So my 3 million essence isn't -quite- as paltry as I had imagined, that's good I guess. I still wish there was a way for me to actually get into a fight here or there without having to factor in finding an aetherhunt at some point to recoup the potential losses. Once you get demigod the casual really kind of goes away. sad.gif

EDIT: @Sylphas. Influence, regular bashes. Not everything has to be tied with aetherhunting. You can do things solo.

I play an hour or two a night now, a few nights a week, tops. Solo is not worth my time. If I bashed or influenced for a few hours a night, sure I could make it up. That was my argument, that essence costs on death mean that anything potentially deadly for me is a hard decision. I don't expect anyone to fix that, and it's a total tangent from the thread at this point, but lower essence losses would be dandy for anyone that plays as casually as I currently do.

No, really isn't, just shy of 3million right now (bought ChoiceZap earlier but aetherhunted to recoup my loses), I suppose it probably should be higher considering I've been gone so long and I accidentally bought the wrong zap before, but it's really easy to be a low essence demi. Easy enough to get higher too as well, especially with ahunts, but eh.

/off topic a bit, but deaths hurt me

Credit prices spiked during the last auction and haven't recovered since. It has nothing to do with griefing so it doesn't need to be discussed (in this topic at least).
