I must have missed the memo were bullying is okay in schools now.

As much as I appreciate the analogy...
No. Neither are acceptable.

I prefer it when my bullies resort to surreal Lynchian threats. Can you cover me in lipstick while hissing "pretty, pretty"?

I'll just serial kill you.

2. "Griefing" is apart of life as much as it is any good game. Just as its ok to bully a kid at school, its not ok to bring a gun to school and shoot him.
That's horrible, you know.

1. Restraining players will always lead to less dynamic game environments.
As everyone else pointed out the fallacy in the other points, I'd like to address this one.
I've just produced a MUD where anyone can do anything at all, at any time, with no consequences. (It consists of about ten lines of code, since it just echoes what each person types to everyone else.) It is, therefore, the perfect MUD, and all other MUDs are about to close. Sorry, Estarra! I didn't mean to put you out of business. When they foreclose on your yacht, you can come hang out on mine.

To the people saying "derp bullying isnt ok" Well duh. But that isn't the point. That isn't what I meant (which I thought was pretty obvious).
What I meant was that a certain amount of horseplay is acceptable. When said "horseplay" trickles out of control and players dive into the realm of unplayability, the design is wrong.
Of course games have limits. Otherwise they would not be games. Again, I thought this was obvious.
Sorry for sharing my opinions! Didn't mean to get the carebears all riled up! Back to the basement with me!

Think there's a pretty big difference between playing rough and straight up bullying.
Just a bad word choice, nothing to get panties in a twist over, it was pretty clear what you meant.

I stand by what I said originally. But because I dont want to get into a whole thing with this crowd, lets say that. Yes. Bad choice of words.

It's your fault for ressurecting a thread after a couple weeks of everyone not giving a about it.

Hey it was a good read.
Enyalida2011-07-15 00:01:13
Okay. I don't think I want to rehash an entire thread here, but I'm tired of forests prime terrain being easier to raid/grief then cities. Honestly, I feel that because there is more of a point to raiding forests (to drop totems and steal lumber), we should be more defensible. Cities have no reason to get raided, yet they get the ability to make moving each room hit you with 7 simultaneous affs. Forests get nothing near as much defense ability, and it's silly. We have to pay for liveforest and distort to get near the same defnse ability as a city. Honestly, I'd feel okay with nerfing the power gain from totems if we got more defnsive ability, seriously. It's tiring having someone be able to run around our truely HUGE territory scott free because it's not possible to track them quickly enough over such a large area and they can just waltz in and out whever they please. We don't have enough people to bond even all perimeter areas and that wouldn't near do it, because we'd need bard guards at all of those (30+?) entrances, which is silly. If totems are perceived to be too awesome to have defensive ability, nerf them, seriously. Cities are unraidable, Forests are too easy to raid and have more reason to, end of story.

Oh dear.
Here, I'll sum up the next few posts for you:
"Argh nerf totems power"
"Whoa whoa, it's fine, they take time to rebuild, if anything, make statues easier to take down"
"Stfu, statues don't generate any power AT ALL"
"Yeah well that's because your cosmic/elemental planes are easier to lock down!111"
"No way, ethereal is still an IMPREGNABLE FORTRESS (of doom)"
"Whatever, nerf choke"

Tell me more about this "Nerf Choke" you speak of.
Seriously, cities do get raided, I myself have posted a log of me and several other Celestias raiding Prime Mag, -Several- Mags have raided Prime Celest, including Ixion, Fillin, Akyaevin, Munsia, Malarious, Estwald. Morbo, Nathuel, Dramon, Ridley, and a large number of Mags have raided Prime Gaudiguch. If someone wanted to, they could raid Prime Hallifax. So, the statement that cities are unraidable, is false.
