That Opera spec Elostian wrote up would be awesome though...
Where's that written?
I always thought aleatoric music would suit Hallifax because it's so systematic, or Gaudiguch because it relies on chance. Sounds like crap to me, though, so if someone had an aleatory spec I hope it'd be Gaudiguch.
Philip Glass and Steve Reich could be Hallibards, I think.

All it needs is 'Funiculi, funicula, da da da DAAA, dada de da...' and I'm sold!

Right, I know that my earlier comments might have seemed to be not serious, but now that I have cleared this with Est I must take a bit more serious tone. I discussed the issue here and she agreed with me that this would be a good opportunity to show the preliminary design of the Opera skillset and ask for first thoughts and feedback. Please keep in mind that this is still a rough design and subject to change.
Feedback is most welcome!

PorTiVolare: your audience joins you in shouting out the refrain, shouting out sections of your songs, often poorly, extending the effects of earache and perhaps causing permanent bans from local karaoke bars.

I'd like to see Hallifax's be prog-rock in the vein of ELP and Yes, but that's hard to do on a mandolin.

FYI, if you want to know what is the most populous city, check CULTURE. The 'activity' rating generally shows population levels.
As for any design on skillsets posted on the forums, they should be viewed as thought exercises and not meant to be indicative of anything that is actually under consideration, even if it is posted by a god (unless it's me). That said, we certainly have used ideas off the forums as inspiration so feel free to brainstorm--just don't get your expectations up!

Two words. Rat Flail.
Seraku2011-08-18 19:08:04
It actually exists.
In fact here it is:
Item: Flail Type: Bludgeons Org: Public
Commodities: iron 26 wood 13 rat 1
Mortal Reviews: Allowed
IMPORTANT: The main noun MUST use one of these: FLAIL
Appearance:
an iron-filled rat flail
Dropped:
A dead rat is here, tied to a shaft of wood, creating a makeshift flail.
Examined:
A dead rat has been hollowed out and filled with multiple pellets of
iron. Its tail is tied securely around a thick wooden shaft. As
ridiculous a weapon as it may seem, it is certainly useful as a
makeshift flail.

Did I make it up, or is there also a design for a flail where the business part is a severed head?

If you did make it up, I have a forging cartel you can use.

There's a flail of severed stag heads, which is ridiculously awful to make, but doable. There's also one that is made from -spectres-, but I don't think any of mortal heads.

Wow, Kaalak had my wavelength as I always felt a few Daft Punk or other electronica fit Hallifax's atmosphere somewhat. (Not that particular song but some of the instrumentals of things like the new Tron soundtrack).
Also, several cuts from the Hearts of Space show might be appropriate.

I love my Tangerine Dream LPs...
The Rolleyes thing was definitely by a Hallibard with the help of Gaudi on the visuals, a rare collaboration.
