Er, isn't that the case no matter what, and hence the existence of Avenger?
Most people need an excuse. Attacking a non-enemy is looked down upon. But an enemy is a liiittle more fair game.

In my case, I'm a citizen of Celest now, so I'd really rather be not enemied to our biggest ally.
Vadi2012-02-12 03:57:04
I'd try again now, then. I certainly dislike allies getting enemy-coloured too!
Casilu2012-02-12 03:59:09
That always happened when I org-hopped. I'd get ganked by my allies who thought I was still an enemy. I thought it was hilarious.

Bug #2094 Resolution: Ambassadors currently deal with newbies and not enemying. Only council
members, guild security, and guild champions can ally or enemy people to a city/commune.

I never actually read HELP AMBASSADOR until now. In my experience, Ambassadors have always handled fines/enemies more particularly than anyone else.
This has become something of a rude awakening for me.
Talan2012-02-12 04:06:33
Yeah. Ambassadors are kind of a carry-over from a pre-collegium system that players have independently repurposed, without any coded support.

That happened to Jack when I first shuffled him to Celest, wayyy back when. It wasn't the allies, though, it was Celest themselves. They refused to unenemy me to Terentia (even on a probationary basis) until I paid a hefty essence fine, so every time I tried to defend Celestia I got worldburned. So I stopped going up until I scrounged up the fine - and started getting reprimanded for laziness. Left for Glom when it mercifully opened!

Oxymoron?
Sylphas2012-02-12 04:20:55
I think I got enemied to Glomdoring for being on the Moonhart Council at some point. I found it odd, because to this day I've never set foot in Glomdoring beyond maybe once when it was still a bashing ground. Maybe Etherglom once? It's never bothered me enough to bug anyone about though, I always figured even if I did get unenemied I'd just get branded again for defending Etherwilde or something.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened if you were on the Circle when the forest alliance fell apart.
Sylphas2012-02-12 04:25:22
Nah, I was dormant at that point, and I think I've been enemied longer, which means it's a totally different random reason, or it was when I was Hierophant. *shrug* Only thing bothersome about it is that exploring Glom and Etherglom would do amazing things for my explorer ranking.

They're just luring us into a false sense of security for ascension I swear. What the hell is going on Magnawilde? Ganksquad used to be your special talent.
There was a seal event today? Looks like no one really cared.

Yeah, and that's too bad. I mean it's an event I thought people really enjoyed, the whole hour long zomg, kill anything that moves. It depressed me to see it be one-sided. That was my point.
Shedrin2012-02-12 05:43:52
Hallifax cared. All 2 of us. :P
Still, I had fun even though I was nowhere near winning.

I would have tried it, but I wasn't in the mood to be jumped everywhere I went, even though I wouldn't have stood a chance at winning anyway. It would have been fun if was zomg kill everything, but...Ildaudid got harassed hard.
I also didn't know it was happening until Avechna announced it. Mag has been dead, lately.

We're handicapping ourselves to two Seal-bearers. It's okay though, we'll win, np.
Talan2012-02-12 08:12:01
Goddamnit I was afraid you would say that :(

Ambassadors don't have the privs to enemy, but they DO have the privs for diplomacy for the city/commune, they can see all enemy statuses (relating to their org). So while that says we look after newbies (which we do), we also have the inherent ability to UNenemy via fines. Pretty sure that only the aids to the ambassador also have those privs.
SO - Ambassador might not enemy, but they should always be the go to person for removing statuses (at least for the org). If this is not the case, why would we have those privs?
Enyalida2012-02-12 10:34:20
To help with welcoming new newbies to your commune/city. That's why they are there, I betcha. Players pretty much always run ambassador as the go to for diplomacy anyways though, it just don't quite mean what you'd expect with actual politics.
