Celest is shaped into a nautilus shell; it spirals outwards from the Pool. Pretty easy navigation if you ask me.
Yes, the road is called "nautilus" for a reason! It spirals out starting one room east of the pool. The other roads all radiate outwards from the pool in straight lines, intersections created where they strike nautilus multiple times. At each intersection, the elevation drops away from the pool too, so the city is basically a gentle cone shape. The roads are either pastel gravels, or cobblestones with sea imagery, which even extends to the architecture, including the private homes in the Merian district. The city sits right on the water, with a bustling harbour. Celest is arguably the most artistically grand, in the traditional sense at least, city out there.
If you read the room descriptions, you can even discover some interesting tidbits- like, there are no fishing vessels in Celest's harbour. You even can get a look at what the Celestian naval ships are like. Including weirdness like:
" The smallest and fastest vessels in the New Celest Navy are anchored closer to the mouth of the harbour. Of all of the small craft moored here, the low, sleek design of the clear ice hulls is the most unique. They are small, one man crafts with completely enclosed hulls. The pilot obviously must lie on his stomach to fit inside. As clear as glass, the hull is surely extremely difficult to see in combat. With no visible means of propulsion, it is a safe guess that some form of aquamagic is the driving force behind them. These would be excellent mobile platforms for firing magic from in naval warfare. As low as they sit in the water, it is easy to imagine that they are submergible, but it is impossible to tell from here."

For some reason I kept thinking that my Mandala could take me to the Aetherplex, and grew more frustrated every time I ended up at the Matrix.

I shouldn't have to say this, but no, you're not allowed to turn tweets into rants EVEN IF OTHER PEOPLE ASK YOU TO.

Seriously, I read the thread, go to work instead of responding (figuring it would go away). During my lunch break I get back, it's still here; and within minutes of saying something here you are.
(You also missed one!)

Ilyssa is miffed that the Mandala can get you to the Matrix, but not the Aetherplex.
We should get a chute that leads down from the Matrix to the portals!

I just finished watching through that the other day
That would be awesome, yeah, after years of being in Celest where the plex is two rooms away from the Pool it was soooo weird to come to Halli where they're at opposite ends of the city. I want slides!

It's because shopping at the Aetherplex is for commons.

Reading Glomdoring descriptions is both disturbing and wildly exciting at the same time.

Fixed, almost the entire page was lack of rants so I may have gotten a little overzealous.
And that's no excuse, Xenthos! *tsk*

MY EYES! THEY ARE MELTING! AAARGH, THE HORROR, THE HORRID BUILDING!
Shiri2011-07-18 18:31:52
What the hell, so Celest has had magic submarines this whole time?
Unknown2011-07-18 18:46:39
I think they are more like Kayaks or torpedoes than submarines. The equivalent of motorized surfboards or jet-skis.
