I blame curio lag! :D

Near enters from the west. He is followed by LAG. :P

I had only a few lagbursts but they were like more than a minute long. I didn't time them but they were seriously on the scale of thinking I should reconnect, but giving it a few more seconds so I wouldn't lose all my defenses, and agonizing over that for a while. I thought it was my router though.

I was pretty sure it was my router, too! Resetting my router did fix another certificate issue I was having but the random spurts of LOLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAG are still there.

I want flares to text me when they erupt. :(

A feature like that would get me into way too many awkward/embarrassing situations. Nothx.

It's probably possible. You can have a spider running on a computer constantly check the news feed on the IRE webpage. When ever it comes across a news post with the flare start messages, have it email a message to the email of your choice. If you had a Linux box lying around, you could use the 'mail' program! From there, I'm sure you could make it text your phone automatically.

Thank goodness for the web site. How would we know what's going on in the game, if we didn't have that?
Razenth2012-03-15 20:47:14
Login probably. Or Skype or another IM program. Or in the old days, texts and phone calls.

I prefer smoke signals.

Yeah, that's a bit more effort than I'm willing to put into it. Basically I just wish I caught more flares. I'd been looking forward to this one but only got in for the last couple of minutes (Just long enough to get my hull banged up, I was still healing modules when it ended.)

I prefer Stag calls.

I wrote code for this. It basically emails me which then gets forwarded to my SMS gateway. :)

Subscribe to Draylor's Lusternia event warning service today! Always be caught up on village revolts and aetherflares! Never be caught sleeping or busy again! Only 20 credits!

To be fair, it actually gets very little actual use. Those times when I enable the alerts are times when I am obviously not at the PC (and thus unable to do anything about it!)

They actually get really frustrating at times. :|

You could sell that man.

Would something like this really be what everybody would want, though?

It's really not that difficult to setup. Just create a new email account with sms alerts and then email yourself from the event start.

If there is no real opposition to it and it's what people would want, I'd be more than happy to release the code. I'm guessing most people would not want this, however.

You really shouldn't enable such terrifyingly strong addictions :P
