Come back to us!!! :(

Some quests really feel like they're designed to frustrate you into just not bothering.

Golden spoor.

Golden. Spoor.

That was worth a good long juvenile laugh.
Kiradawea2012-05-19 16:48:49
I think I have discovered something. If that is true, then it is quite a neat design choice of mob reactions.

I question the choice of the Lance and Trident as polearms. They're not weapons meant for infighting at all. Wouldn't a Yari, Naginata or Voulge be better suited to the skillset?
Unknown2012-05-19 20:54:12
Lances and Tridents are the polearm weapons because if you ask the average person what a Naginata is, they'll tell you it's a sort of snake monster.
Kiradawea2012-05-20 02:08:15
It almost feels like someone in the Havens turned the respawn rate of a quest I'm doing WAY down.

Might be because the original polearms were used for oldschool Riding?

Given Estarra's old-style D&D heritage, I'm surprised we don't have the glaive-glaive-guisarme and the Bohemian ear-spoon.

For anyone interested on the cool deathsight:

A bright light surrounds your spirit as it floats unfettered from your body. You see an image of
Saoirse as though through a long corridor. Quickly, you fly towards her, feeling a new body knit
itself around you until you are reborn into the world of flesh and blood.
The core of the cloud maelstrom.
This location is flooded with shallow, crystal clear water. A light cover of clouds hides the sky in
a sheet of white. A cloud manta surfs through the clouds, making only the barest of noise. Her
slinky tail curling between four fearsome legs, a golden chimaera with shimmering wings of snowy
feathers crouches quietly within her surroundings. The twisted remains of Vadi lie here.
You see exits leading northeast and south.
Saoirse's eyes glow an incandescent white for a moment, looking somehow more angelic.

(m&m): Welcome back to life! System unpaused.

You are caught within the gale force winds of the cloud maelstrom and hurled down to the Iceburn
Plains below.
A vast expanse of glistening white ice.
The shadowy outline of a twisted forest casts a dark gloom here. A fresh gale whistles in your ears.
You see exits leading north, southeast, and southwest.
The screaming winds smash you onto plains below, breaking your body against the hard icy ground.
You have been slain by brutal winds.
On the edge of the abyss.
You see a single exit leading down.

Note to future-me the next time this comes up and I am trying to locate it:
Tully's Golden Broom is activated by the command "BROOMSWEEP".

Namoc Tsolut lets loose a sudden roar of frustration as the safe clangs for a final time.

Namoc Tsolut says, "You fool, you have ruined it! You have used up all the chances it gave you, and now it will not accept any more. I will never see what is inside this safe! Please just leave my sight - oh fine, take this for the effort at least."

Are you ****ing kidding me? The quest locks itself and undoes all my effort without telling or even warning me that there was a maximum number of tries? Who the **** designed this **** ?
Xenthos2012-05-21 21:34:30
Eh. I'm not sure why there's such a focus on rude, abrasive quest NPCs recently, but it's actually kind of annoying from an OOC player standpoint.
Unknown2012-05-22 05:05:21
Somehow the IRE message got dumped into my spam mail and I missed out on Mothersrock, but oh well.

Ellie Tooter dies horribly as the black matter hollows out her insides and her corpse slumps to the ground like a deflated balloon.
You have slain Ellie Tooter.
: You have completed the 'Gnome Slayer' Achievement! You have earned 5 Lessons.

Heh. That there was a fun surprise.
Unknown2012-05-23 15:30:23
I'm having fun being back again, but I think I might be spending a little TOO much time in Lusternia.
Kiradawea2012-05-23 18:53:02
Fighting against enemies that spam entangle AND an enemy with an incredibly powerful critical attack is not fun.

It does make me wonder if it's intentional that the gnafia subbosses have so wildly different levels of difficulty.

They each have their own manner of difficulty, though they are not going to be the same boss as the next or previous. Some are probably 'easier,' some are probably not. It's not intended to be an easy quest, and they aren't intended to be easy to kill.
Kiradawea2012-05-23 20:27:39
Don't quotemark easier. Some ARE easier in that you have to suffer far less damage per second between, say Bertha and Tootsie. And that's the main difficulty of most mobs. None have thus far done much in the way of afflictions. The peeps were the worst at that, and that's because they love to entangle.
