Addendum: My message says: "7 failed attempts to login to the website or an associated service using your character name," which I do not recall being the message from someone trying to log into the game with the user name and a bad password.

It's not. The message for a failed attempt comes after the welcome message, and says there has been # failed attempts to log into your character. These are before that message.
Now my paranoia says, does this have anything to do with the person who was asking me ooc questions about how holidays are celebrated in the IRE games? *fret* I don't know, I don't know.

It's kind of looking like someone was intentionally trying to log onto your character and failed a lot, and now said someone has found an alternate way to go through the entire player database one character at a time. Probably trying the same password on each run-through.
Things like 'password' (I hope nobody is using that as their password!)

Yeah, glad it's not a hack attack.
On a related note, anybody noticing the spam bots hitting us recently--they're actually forming almost good sentences. (You can tell they are bots because of the signatures in the bottom).
