Back to Common Grounds.

Note that I am saying this as a person who has millions of gold, 5 tradeskills, and a cord, so it doesn't affect me in any way; at this point I pretty much just make my own stuff no matter what and the gold just gets spent on the raw materials (I don't even consider gold costs).

It's more the other people who do have to deal with this sort of thing that actually get frustrated by it and go the snub route / angry route. I am simply stating that I fully understand where they are coming from and I feel that they are justified, with Lusternia's economic makeup.

So you know, I've actually talked to two different shop owners who say they try to do exactly this. A few times every week they go to the aetherplex and use PORTAL SEARCH SHOPS to find all the lowest-priced analogues of goods they sell, mostly herbs and refills. They buy out everything beneath the price they "like" to sell at, then drop it all in their shop.

It actually happens, fairly frequently.

Falcon:

I'm an artisan. What useful goods? And everything i make goes to building or the residents at L'ianmor. I don't spend on myself at all. except for the occasional bromide or health refill.

edit:
Kegs - go in a stockroom, there is a limit to how many are needed
Instruments - you can make them effectively non-decay by consistently playing them
watches - last long enough
boxes - nobody buys them
horns - other than avarice, nobody buys them
---------------------
furniture - limited to people who have a manse. At that, statis gem prevents decay

There are the big sellers, but it's nothing compared to bookbinding's origami. Or jewelry, or alchemy.

edit edit:
@ rathan: no comment to those kinds of shopkeepers.

Change trades?

No key! Don't get more expensive. I'm having problems justifying your value as it is.

Oh god, auctions -and- new arties?

Must. get. manna.

It was tasty.

IE: Regarding buying from other shops and reselling the goods.

This is the number one reason I can't be bothered to restock my own shops very often these days. There are some things I like to sell cheaply. There are others I do not. When the things I enjoy making cheaply in my spare time get bought up and are obviously just being sold elsewhere, it kills my motivation to do it over again. I might as well just charge the prices they're charging, after all!

Snubbing is a bit silly, but I don't think it is extreme to block those sorts from buying your wares if they keep it up. It's kind of pointless, though, as they get other people to do it for them. As my time to play Lusternia decreases, I just abstain from trade more often than not in order to engage in more rewarding activity, or doing things I "have" to do given my IC responsibilities.

There's no point in stressing.

I imagine they blocked first and then snubbed when Person A whined to Person B.

Divine manna feels like a slap in the face.

I'm already only using half of my weights because I have nothing else to spend them on; the selection of powers for a Demigod is very poor. Thanks for adding the artefact, I guess?
Ssaliss2011-11-03 04:05:42
Hopefully the Demigod Special Report will boost the number of powers available to you.

Clearly needs to suggest more ideas!

Yeah, stop ranting.

I was responsible (at least, I like to think so) for the drop in esteem prices a year ago (as low as less than 1,000 gold per 100% esteem), and people were grumbling about losing their market :( Now they're rising and people are still not happy. Make up your minds D:

People want to be able to just wander over to a shrine and dump a whole lotta esteem in for free favours and karma. Other people want to be able to make lots of money selling esteem. Different people that are angry!

Falcon:

Sorry, but bite me and grow the :censor: up. Really. I don't want to hear that I was divorced because of my business, I don't want to hear the reason I'm alone is that I'm a despicable being. Because really anyone who said that or will say that can go :censor: themselves. Or lay the blame finger on me, bite me.

If that many people are upset with you based on your business practices... maybe you need to realize that it is in fact you, not them, who should consider change.

If you're going to move to monopolize something, or artifically inflate prices of goods, then expect opposition. You may not be dishonest with your work, but then again, it's also not illegal for them to block you from buying from them to inflate prices. That's how it works. Don't expect warm smiles when you're driving prices up.
