Sell em?

Falcon:
was hoping the artisanals results would come out before the auctions end.
Word. Those extra credits would help.

Sho nuff (though replacing "artisanal" with "bardic")

Just drop them somewhere.

Or be online when it happens. Kaboom!
(I always try to just destroy things before they decay.)

Be Polite: Always drop all your items at the Aetherplex, so others may share in the experience.
Ssaliss2011-11-16 04:40:02
Or put them all in a highly populated nexus. Always fun!
Xenthos2011-11-16 10:47:49
My current plan, if nothing changes, is to fly above someone's nexus and drop 4,300 flowers.
50 flowers at a time.
I am very displeased about this.

It would suck to run into a room with that many separate flowers under the effects of dementia!

Idea 2: Buy 4300 flame sigils from Talan.
Drop the flowers one by one at the Aetherplex.

Xenthos, just dump them all in my manse, it gives me a legitimate janitorial task to do. That offer goes to everyone, just put them in the attic.

That's not much of a statement...
I paid 250 credits for these things. I feel justified in my displeasure.
Iosai2011-11-16 11:50:09
I think the purpose of the flowerpot was that you would always have a few flowers, not that you would be able to get 5000 flowers.
Xenthos2011-11-16 12:05:13
Iosai:
I think the purpose of the flowerpot was that you would always have a few flowers, not that you would be able to get 5000 flowers.
I don't have a pot, I have a garden.
And if the purpose was so that you would 'always have a few on hand,' then it's horrendously over-priced; for just 50 credits more you can get things which can double profit from tradeskills (for example, Gloves of Harvesting, Magic Quill, Magic Spatula...)
The only justifiable reason for the price is that it can generate flowers for sale, which is where my flowers go. Almost all of them are on sale, they just don't move as quickly as they grow.
Now I either need to 1) Ignore the garden entirely and consider it a waste of credits, or 2) Spend more time looking at the garden, pruning out flowers I don't like, and only harvesting a couple of them here and there for sale, while making sure that I don't go over any shop limits and only trying to grow very specific flowers out of a large variety of the things which I have no control over due to the random nature of flower growth.
#2 is not a valid option. It is tedious, and far more of a headache to deal with than some flowers at a handful of gold each are worth. So at this point, I am looking at being told that the purchase is a complete waste and everything I've collected from it will also be destroyed as well.
Basically: If that was the purpose, it has not been conveyed very well in either implementation or pricing.
Xenthos2011-11-16 12:12:54
For further depth on the implementation end:
Some flowers sell better than others. For example, roses tend to do better than other flowers (and certain roses do better than the rest).
This means that in order to keep those roses stocked, I need to keep harvesting my garden, to free up space for those roses to grow as well as to collect any that have been.
Everything that I picked goes into the shop for sale under the old system (the implementation meant that I have to keep harvesting, so I might as well sell it all). It is designed for mass-production of flowers, most of which are of lesser appeal.
Under the new one, if there's nothing to address flowers directly and they become shop-decay-bait, that means I have to, every time, examine every flower I pick and make a judgement call as to whether or not to discard it, by also checking my shop for current contents, etc. I don't see how this can be considered anything but an immense headache. :(

Maybe if the garden grew one of every flower and the picked ones regrew every month, or you can somehow pick which flowers grow. I know that changing artifacts is usually a no no though. I must agree with Xenthos, that it is unfortunate that the nature of how some artifacts work, doesn't really fall in line with with the newly limited shops. I do however agree with shops being limited to an extent.
Unknown2011-11-16 15:49:54
More fun things to do with flowers! Specifically if they turn lots of flowers into one thing. I haven't had my flowerpot or my shop quite long enough to accumulate thousands of flowers, but mrh. It would be nice to have something else to do with them.

Isune once wore about 500 flowers, becoming a mass of petals.
Then Soll tried for about 1000.
Maybe we need to bring back that fashion statement, create coats and cloaks with 1000 flower commodities.
