PhantasmalKiller:
... because they didn't metagame their pants off.
I'm hard pressed to believe most of the people winning in the lowest tiers aren't people with alts freely using information they've built up beforehand, and thus are already metagaming. I'm also hard pressed to believe that anyone in the higher two tiers are maintaining their position via ratting.
Wasting time ratting is the sort of thing a true novice is most likely to do, especially the shy types who are especially confused. I remember wasting a lot of time weeviling when I first came here, and believe me, it would have been nice to make something of it! If anything, this seems strikingly appropriate.
Unknown2011-11-27 17:46:29
Eh, seems we have differing opinions of what constitutes metagaming.
I have to admit I was tempted to do the same as all of the ones on the under 60 leaderboard did, since I'm working on a new character anyway... but something about it just doesn't sit right with me. Whether or not it's more or less metagame-y in anyone's opinion... it just strikes me as contrary to the spirit of the thing, winning a greathunt by avoiding hunting, and leaves me with a frown on my face and a heavy sigh at the end of the day.

Kialkarkea:
I didn't know Phoebus was a hick. o.O
Well, comin' to the city's just somethin' she did 'cause it seemed right to do, what with being a trill and Hallifax and all. She puts on her fancy city airs for most of the time, to keep up appearances and such, but sometimes she gets herself a little too excited and slips back into talking maybe not entirely proper-like.

Show of hands everyone who thinks the giving tree is gonna be a Lusternian advent calendar.
Unknown2011-11-28 17:51:30
Oooo. :D I like that idea.
Kiradawea2011-11-28 19:09:40
I managed to raise TBC by accident... :(

The dangers of quests being left mostly completed. On a positive note, those stupid antennae will finally be gone once it's taken down!

Sorry. :( It was just... "Oh, you raised Globglob? -enemy-"
Kiradawea2011-11-28 19:18:29
Is cool. Just one more reason to HATE THE TBC.
And to think I was trying to figure out how to destroy the antenna on the roads.

Well you made me happy, since I wanted to see Globglob in game, and never saw the TBC before now (not that I'd ever want to do the quest), so thanks. :) I know that is little comfort, but I wanted to say I appreciate it on an OOC level.
Kiradawea2011-11-28 20:03:32
Heh. Some good came outta it at least then.
On the other hand, I never think Globby has ever been brought down this fast.

Okay. All Right.
This is a pump you up post for both the players and the admin.
To prepare myself, I've read the A Song of Ice and Fire books (just finished the 5th), I'm reading the new Bone One Color Edition, I've been reading over a few of my RPG game sourcebooks, and I think I'll be re-watching the LoTR movies on blu-ray next weekend. (I will also get Assassin's Creed: Revelations out of my system once it arrives tomorrow). I'm even getting inspiration from those Christmas Specials.
I am mentally preparing my imagination muscles.
C'MON LONG TERM PLOT EVENT CLIMAX!
Make us proud this December! I wanna see you guys put last years event to shame! I know what you are capable of. If you can provide at least 50% of the excitement you did last year at this time, please do so! (Although I hope it's more like 250%). Man, I had so much fun last year, even though it was a bit rough for my character.
Those of you plays and admin in college, study for your tests, get all your finals done, and then...it's showtime!
MAKE US PROUD!
I am so looking forward to December...
'Tis the Season to be Jolly--and to be blown away by Lusternia!

Lilia:
It's pretty silly to assume that the way one NPC talks has anything to do with how the rest of the race should be viewed. In real life, we call that racism.
Racism in lusternia? *gasp*

We were considering raising him just so we could take him down and finally get rid of that antenna sitting outside Seren on the road. So I guess it works out in any case.

I'm excited for the Christmas events. We'll have gnomes this year, right?
I'm just... not so excited about having to work Christmas and missing out on 90% of events. But yes. CHRISTMAS EVENTS, MAKE US PROUD.
I'm already excited about this tree. >.>

Yes! Christmas/Solstice Events! Can't wait :D
Please turn your caroling books to page 42... all together now:
Lord Hoaracle, Lord Hoaracle... How lovely are Thy Branches...!
Would be fun to have village caroling/carolers for something as a mini event.
But yes, my belated tweet: I completed my sphere curio! Eee! Thank you everyone who helped. On to more curio finishing.

I got some furniture made, and forgot to save enough gold to be able to submit my splendours design.
Herp a derp.

Actually, I wasn't talking so much about the Christmas (Gnomish-Solstice) events so much as the BIG EPIC events.
Last year was epic. Crazy Weather, Lightning striking communes, wild elementals in cities, Monk-fights in the mountains, plagues, villages in chaos, the beauty afflictions, plagues, etc.! Stuff that gets the jaded and cynical from feeling complacent and passive.
C'mon December...

Eh. Personally I felt that the previous end-year event was by far the weakest in terms of story-telling. I hope for something more coherent yet still epic.

I want something not so long and drug-out. Though I did enjoy the clashes with the Gnafia.
