Any halfway competent public library will have had multiple copies of this on shelves the day it drops. We had an entire box of Harry Potter 6 pre-launch, and it was SO TEMPTING to open the damn thing early.

If you mean yet another surprise Targaryen, then I was a bit surprised as well, though I can't help but smile ruefully given that it's not exactly the first surprise Targaryen in the books, like Aemon, etc.

Note, if you are reading this, I read the entire book, so spoilers are through the entire end of the book.
A few things:
I knew the epilogue was going to happen. You knew Varys had never left.
There's no way that Jon Snow is dead, just like when Tyrion blacked out. You just know that he wasn't going to kill those characters off. Tyrion has to deliver the message to Dany about Tywin and Aegon.
Cersei, oh god, thankfully all that happened.
Oberyn, what a dumbass, I'm sorry, you deserve to burn.
A few things I'm upset with about the book:
It's another build-up book, still waiting for the climax. The first two books built up to Red Wedding, these books are building up to Dany leaving Mereen.
No Sansa, nothing in the Vale. Jaime's one chapter. No Sam. I know they weren't going to be there, but not even a mention or even a pass-by.
Bran's future. It's just... so.. I really don't have words to describe what Bran is going to become.
Daenerys. Just about everything in the book that she did was just utter fail. Way to do every wrong move, just release your dragons and burn all those damn ships (except Victarion).
Things I can't wait for:
Victaaaaaaaaaaaariiiiiiiiiioooooooooooooon. What a total B.A.M.F. Easily one of my favorite characters.
More Melisandre chapters, more crazy Theon, more Euron and more Krakens in general.
Really need to find out what happens to Bran later on, and Rickon, in extension Davos.
