Bodyscan, new damage, etc.

Back to Common Grounds.

One possible suggestion to add to the damage types would be something to distinguish communes from cites. Maybe some damage type that is based on Lowmagic vs. Highmagic. Tapping the higher spheres has a more detrimental effect on fae, for instance, while the communes have some sort of defensive power that cosmic/astral beings are weaker to.
Vadi2011-07-20 00:56:58
That won't reflect the current political landscape of many years - I think it's a silly idea.
Unknown2011-07-20 01:02:47
It has nothing to do with "politics", but rather with Lore. The communes and cites have had historical tensions and I'd like to think that cosmic (and Astral) beings are somehow more damaging to spirits and fae, and perhaps the Wiccans and Druids have developed something in their arsenals to handle these issues. Plus there was the hai'Gloh Zemordia.
Vadi2011-07-20 01:04:10
Well... then you'd be playing some kind of Lusternia nobody else is.
Unknown2011-07-20 01:05:47
It sounds like they will be adding other types of damage in the future, I'm just suggesting one based on prior Lore.
Lendren2011-07-20 01:29:36
Actually the highmagic/lowmagic parallel to city/commune has always been only a vague notion, and there've been highmagic people in communes and lowmagic people in cities since the first day of open beta. Nowadays we even have tradeskills in communes that require highmagic, just like we've always had tradeskills in cities that required lowmagic. If you really want it to be built on lore, you'd need some other hook for it.
Unknown2011-07-20 01:37:23
I should. Not have used lowmagic vs. Highmagic then, so I'd scrap that specific one. But I think there is some precedent to having cosmic beings vs spirit beings possible--probably some energy type that the esteemed gods can figure out.
Eventru2011-07-20 02:09:46
That seems a bit of an empty paradigm - is not the Immanidivinus what the Elder Gods are made from (so to speak), and is it not the same 'stuff' that the fae are made of (albeit they are thinner than we lofty, great beings)?

Anything the fae would give to communers would likely be derived from that (outside of the base elements of cold, heat, etc), except from Night (and likely Sun) - where it's quite possibly born of, instead, the excoroperditio?

That dichotomy already exists - in divinus and excorpus attack-types.

So like, Moonfire is pretty damn sexy. Both in description and in deathsight. I LOVE it. I always wanted some kind of moonfire. Only issue with it is the whole use of "salvation" in the deathsight...Seems too Celest-ish.

/offtopic

Bodyscan is essentially that dmplist thing isn't it? o.O That's a real surprise. I love it.

Also, divinus and excorable damage type runes. Do want.
Unknown2011-07-20 04:47:01
That's just the generic line for divinus damage deaths, it should be different for moonfire.

I agree. It'd be neat to get new deathsights for the additions. biggrin.gif

What does it look like and the other one too?
Xiel2011-07-20 06:55:50
I think there are at least two deathsights per damage type. These ones are the death lines from excorable damage:

QUOTE
Enyalida's soul is torn to shreds by the corrupting power of Vadi Stormcrow, the Prince.

Scax has been destroyed by the excorable force of Prince Druken Inseira, Curator of Shadows.

You'll have to get a Moon-user/Celestine to kill folk with divinus energy for me to get you the exact samples, sorries. sad.gif

While I certainly understand the basis for those two energies, I was trying to say that there might be a place for more polarities--different types of spiritual energy conflicts--even if they are lesser than the divinus/excorpus energies. There might be other levels of metaphysical energy that could have influence--perhaps there are other spiritual flavors of different kinds of energies (regardless of the Divinus / Excorpus energies) have some variants--for instance, higher plane vs lower planes (which sort of go along with the histories of communes vs. cities), or even something like Dead Half formed (Flesh Pots / Spheres) vs. Live half formed (Angels / Devils). (Which would lead to occasional co operations (Hallifax & Gaudiguch vs. Celest & Magnagora).

I was basing it more or less on both some of the histories (communes didn't like city's way of tapping energies from the higher spheres, so unless this was just a philosophical view there's some potential there), and from the game design perspective that I would assume you don't want all conflict to be just "good vs. evil", and if the only extra energies you add are divinus and excorpus categories, you're sort of reinforcing the trope.

Maybe eventually there might be certain creatures weaker to an attack depending on what Avatar or Lord or Path you choose.

Just trying to think of other ideas.
